Valid PR is the page rank of your particular website. You may simply download a google toolbar and check through it.
its possible to fake PR quite easily to sell domains or get recip links. lots of people do it temporarily to their links pages or sites, thats just saying that this reading is real, not fake.
Can PRs be invalid? = NOT LIKELY! If you try to buy some old domains which already shows you good, go and check for their history. Most of them will have quite a different history, thus the PageRank for the old parked domains carries over from the past. Kind of a virtual - cached PR. When we buy those domains and start some activity on them, then while a major Google PR update, which they do about 4 times a year, google will find the domains now sitting with a new IP address and nameserver, sending out a redirect. PR will drop to 0 or N/A. Guaranteed. So basically its just a term, but you will have invalid and valid PRs and even fake PRs.
lol. you dont wanna be doing that, as lucilla says it only lasts up to the next update and anyone with a clue can see immediately by looking at the links into it whether its a "justifiable" toolbar reading or not
lol. I just wanted to test PR addicts here in DP if they would ask me how to do it. And of course, I only use legitimate White Hat SEO methods.
lol did you get any email asking you how to do it? I use several websites toolbar research to compare a domain PR. Google is definitely a good one to use.
There is nothing like fake PR. What exists is : => for the buyer of a website or someone exchanging reciprocal links to have been "faked" into believing a site has a particular PR when it is not true. Apparently he must have been relying on someone else confirming the PR for him or he does not possess the tools to check or is inexperienced and just fell for whatever was advised to him as PR for the site. => For the PR to actually be true as at the date he was buying the site or exchanging links, only to fall/drop later during google's next update. This emphasises need for due diligence test during such transactions in that other factors such as current active operation of the site, will go a long way in maintaining the PR after the transaction.
I love people who go onto forums and make blanket statements of "fact" about things they have no clue about. there most certainly is "faked" PR and because you don't know how, doesnt mean it cant happen I could put up a new page on a site today and have it showing PR 5 by Saturday. If you don't believe me, put a couple of grand on it and lose your money. first I would try a quick Google search to educate yourself a bit better http://www.google.com/search?q=fake+pr&pws=0&hl=en&num=10
There is no such thing as fake PR. Page rank has no bearing on relevance or any other factor, it is just a way of measuring votes. So don't waste your time on it! Focus to ranking and conversions. Anyway, download seoquake to see the PR of a particular page.
There is FAKE PR and I can prove it to you, I however will not do any Black Hat SEO methods just to correct people in believing that there is no FAKE PR. checkpagerank.net is an example of a very great tool which detects fake PR or you can do manual checking yourself.
lol, well at least one person is listening, that's a good start here PM me (Grimm, nobody else) if you really want to know how it's done although I would advise anyone not to bother. it is after all, fake. you wont rank any better, links from it wont do anything, and anybody with a clue will be able to see it's fake immediately. the only real uses I can see from it involve scamming people really, and that's not a good path to go down. & it's not black hat, I discovered by accident whilst doing some perfectly white hat site changes several years ago, so then did it again to make sure that was what caused it, but it's pretty widely known in pro seo world, I dont know any of my peers who dont know how to do it.
Im listening to. Hands up! Fake PR's - Redirects and etc. Really great explanation and resource. Before making any false prophecy, ASK GOOGLE STUPID PUNK! Agree?
