Hello everyone, Today, I decided to revisit some auto blogs that I created a few months back (approximately 5 months ago). With that said, I have this one blog which is currently #1 on Google for the particular keyword that I am targeting. Now, what I find strange is the fact that the blog is only receiving on average two unique visitors a day. Market Samurai says that the keyword gets 870 (exact match) searches a month. Market Samurai also says that out of the 870 searches, I should see 360 visitors (also called SEOT). So why on earth am I only receiving two visitors a day (60 a month)? Were are the other 300 visitors? You would think that the blog would receive a bit more traffic. Is Market Samurai that inaccurate? Or could I be doing something wrong? My meta description is well written, so I don't think that's the problem. Can someone please offer some suggestions/explanations? Thank you, Gordon
How competitive is your keyword? How specific is your keyword? Does your keywords target a large amount of audience or just a small audience? Apply these questions and you might have the answer to your problem. I wouldn't really know how to help you as I don't how what your keywords are, and as for Market Samurai - never tried it.
Hi Grimm, 1. The keyword has very little competition (less then 17,000 competing pages). 2. The keyword is very specific (exact matched). 3. I would say a smaller audience (should be 360 visitors a month according to Market Samurai). Thanks, Gordon
I'm guessing that your keyword is a not so common one and I wouldn't really say that Market Samurai is accurate (or at least near accurate). Targeting a smaller amount of audience even without that much competitors won't guarantee you at least 360 visitors (according to Market Samurai). I would then suggest stepping up a little bit, target more keywords rather than focusing on one specific keyphrase and focus on at least a fair amount of visitors. Even if you're positioned at #1 but with the wrong keywords can still prove useless sometimes.
How are you determining that you are at no 1 in serps? You need to use a neutral 3rd party tool, as your own searches are skewed by cookies, history and geography (and even then remember that other people are seeing variations due to regional differences etc)
Thanks for the tips! So lets say I decide to target two additional keywords (total of three). Would I just add all three keywords to my meta title, description, keywords, and then also add the additional keywords to my homepage. Is this the correct way to target additional keywords? Thanks, Gordon
I just do a search for my particular keyword in Google. Can you please show me a better way? What tool should I use? Thank you, Gordon
It could be in the title, description or within the content. Just remember not to stuff your website with too much keywords, keeping a fair amount of keyword density would help avoiding keyword stuffing. Also, make good use of your meta tags, titles, descriptions and h1 tags - don't bother for the keyword tags, Google gives no importance to this tag as it has always been abused. You can use online proxies such as ninjacloak.com OR Disable customised search based on Web History and log-off from any of your Google accounts if you're using the same browser. This way, results will be shown normally and not based on your previous search activities.
Before you start target those keyword should be finalize keyword by using some tools, market samurai is good but also should analyze by using google adword keyword tool. It may be you finding that result is only for your computer I have also seen sometime like that
Are you ranking #1 in all countries? Is your title and description good enough for you to get 40% traffic?
**EDIT** Just realised I've said more or less the same thing as the guy above!** I think some of the questions above of pretty irrelevant if you're really ranking number one. Two things could be your problem: 1. You are raking number 1 for Google Web Search in the wrong country (UK web search is totally different to US web search for example. I am ranking #1 in US and not even in the top 100 in UK for some sites) 2. Your Title and description do not look appealing in the earch results compared to your competitor, example: #1. Blue Widgets <your site #2. Blue Widgets 90% Discount! #3. Blue Widgets Totally Free! Which would you click? Even if you're number 1 a human being still has to decide to click on your website in the results page. You say your meta description is well written, but just check by comparing it to your competitors.
I just checked my ranking in the US (my target market), and I am indeed #1 in Google. I am also #1 in Canada and the UK (so that's a bonus). As for my title and description. My title contains my three main keywords, and has the following layout: Apples | Green Apples | Red Apples My description was just re-writing, so I will have to wait to see if the clicks increase. Thanks, Gordon
Hi Stevie, For starters, I am currently ranking #1 in Google for my main keyword in Canada, US, and the UK. My goal was to only target the US, so the other two countries are a bonus. I am checking my rankings with the Google Global add-on for Firefox. I recently changed my description, so I will have to wait to see if that improves my click-through rate. It never occurred to me to actually change my title (I will do that later today). I will start by only placing my main keyword in the title. I will then try to work in my two other secondary keywords within the description (without making it look too spammy). Thanks again, Gordon
