Although we have tried to optimize our site mainly for Google we do rank much better on Yahoo. One reason might be our activities with Yahoo answers and we have a lot of nofollow backlinks. Google doesn't give nofollow backlinks much of a value unless they come from high PR and niche related sites. Yahoo handles backlinks different. But I also have seen a very similar increase of ranking for certain keywords in both SE's. It just takes a lot longer to get up on Google than on Yahoo. So we will just continue doing the seo as we did so far. At this point we see more traffic and better traffic (lower bounce rates) coming from Yahoo than from Google. At the end we don't care where the traffic comes from as long as it is organic traffic. Cheers verdecove
Ok thanks...I don't use Yahoo Answers at all, although I've heard alot of talk about it. Maybe worth getting into that!
My experience suggests- Yahoo gives more importance to On- page SEO factors like title, meta tags ,Good interlinking ,site navigation and of course nice site maps. XML or HTML sitemap anything can be ok. So, give more attention to them and you will get a better result in Yahoo .
URL submission. Article submission. Forum posting. Blogging and blog commenting. Keyword research, basic data entry etc..
Yes yahoo Search engine is depends on more link building the greater the link you have the greater chance you have to make good position on search engine of yahoo.
Yahoo is not included in our SEO strategy. Reason being we usually rank better in Yahoo but only get a handful of visitors from there, while getting much much more from Google at lower positions.
Like others have said - Yahoo really cares about domain. My new website (audiobooks-rapidshare.com) is on the FIRST position for phrases "audiobooks rapidshare" as well as "rapidshare audiobooks". For those who don't know, this is a huge and competitive niche. Crazy? It's also first for many other keywords, like "[book's title] audiobook". Of course, domain is not everything. Some basic SEO knowledge is just as important Obviously, it will take years to have the same results on Google.
