    Dear all,

The lowest price I've paid is $7.20 for a domain transfer but apparently there seems to have folks who can get it at a lower price. Let me know where you can renew/register/transfer a domain for less than $6?

    Thanks folks!

Beware with 1&1, its lowest prices are the catch for a number of problems over time, google it to find out more about.

During Promotion time: $3.75 transfer any domain to Registerfly, $6.95 COM registration, $2.75 NET registration, 60-70 cents INFO domain names. Free privacy for life registering any domain name.

These promotions are available on regular basis.

Has it occurred to you that looking for a domain provider charging less than
$6 for .com is one reason you're having trouble in one of your threads?

Thanks guys for the info. Will keep that in mind. :)

    Hi Dave,

No no. I believe that problem is due to the integrity of that hosting company, not because of the price of the domain :)

    Really? :D

Haven't tried that... aren't aware that they track by username instead of credit card info. :)

    I hear ya on this!

What about transfering the domains to other registrars that offers a lower rate than $9.99? Might save you around $80+

I did that, got Yahoo domains at $1.99 and the next year they were transferred to GoDaddy because by then there was a promotion.

When the renewal date was due, Yahoo charged me $9.99 for each domain disregard the transfer occurred 2 months before, arguing that I never canceled the "premium" status of my yahoo account.

    Money that flew away :(

Good thing I was never aware that you can get more domains with other username, otherwise, what a pain!

Side note: the credit card registered at Yahoo had no funds when the renewal date was due, but somehow they got another of my CCs number to charge me

Next renewal those domains transferred to GoDaddy will "emigrate" to Registerfly at $3.75 each.

The price of Registerfly sounds a good deal. But I've read some -ve posts regarding the services.

How can that be possible? I mean.. how do they got hold of your other CCs info? Did you register that other number for yahoo services?

I'm not a big purchaser of domains as my service is mainly on the front-end design and coding. Will only purchase domains for my clients as part of the services if they do not own one. I always register clients' domains from reliable registrars despite of their higher prices than the others service providers as that will give me a peace of mind knowing it will be in good hands. For my own personal websites, I like to try out services from other registrars that offer lower/promotion prices to test how it works out. :D

I'm a godaddy user too. Started with enom, godaddy and tried Aplus. Disappointed with the latter's service and have transfered all the domains from Aplus to godaddy since.

www.domainsarefree.com i think this website has been closed down now, try it any way. They were offering free .com domains in exchange for any 500 referals to there website. I ended up with 8 :D As a clever b*ger like me relalized... That if you could pay some one in Central Europe $1 a day to work there ass off and just keep signing up ect... Abit harsh but... I ended up with 8 domain names for $4 :D The poor guy worked day and night :D, But.. I duno , i think its been closed now.

No offense, but you misunderstand me (and I don't hold it against you). Was
the host offering the domain at a cheap price (or free) one of the reasons you
chose them to register the domain name with in the first place?

Because if that's the case, then you've learned the hard way one reason why
it's not a good idea to register a domain name with a provider for less than $6
unless you really seriously know what you're doing (meaning you're willing to
risk losing it if it isn't that important to you). Providers who charge less than
$6 for a .com domain name really have little to no incentive to help you should
    sh** happen.

Oh, and while creating a different username might help, providers can always
track what IP address you're using and later "ban" you from using their service
if they see you trying to "cheat" your way through.

Bottom line: if you truly care about the domain names you register, you'll be
better off registering them with a real domain registrar and pay extra to be
able to sleep more soundly at night.
