Easy ranking in Google images

Is anyone else seeing a high ranking in google images? I just slap an image on the page and all of a sudden i'm ranking high for a phrase such as sports (note: i am not currently ranking for this phrase but it is a comparable example of a phrase I am ranking for). Also, getting some decent traffic from the image search.

Anyone else getting the same? I have 50 minisites. All are ranking high for keywords that I am not even targeting

(i'm not targeting these keywords because too much competition yet I am ranking on the first page of Google images and bringing in traffic)

 

I am not that an expert in Image SEO but I did ranked for a keyword once top 4 for a one word keyword getting a lot of hits from there. This was because the images were also displayed at the front page of normal search. The downside about these kind of traffic I think is that they do not convert well as people is more interested in seeing the images only.
About the ranking factors I am not that sure but I was using a normal HTML and that site was targeting in particular of that certain niche, has a lot of the keyword that the image was ranking for.

 

Yeah, I think I also check my website images when they ranked in SE images search.
I usually used alt texts and photo file title targeting to achieve rankings in images search.

 

It just amazes me how unbelievably easy and quick you can rank in images search. I added the images a week ago and I already rank #6 for the name of a city.

I ranked high for images too, but the traffic isn't so good, because it won`t actually see the website, just the images, so it won`t click any clicks

Nice touch, i think that perhaps google ranks images more highly because atthe moment it is encouraging the use of them in websites.

 

I don't think Google Images requires ANY backlinks for high rankings.

 

Personally, I have no good experience in ranking for images even though I have optimize the alt tags, url, surrounding contents with my targeted keywords.

Good idea to get ranked higher. Also its a good traffic source.

 

I've noticed this from time to time to in some cases, always nice when that happens, I'll take any traffic from Google I can get!

 

I have optimized all images optimally but rarely of them got traffics from image searches. It may because my niche is too competitive to got them ranked just a common image optimization and strategy.

 

Sounds interesting, i mean it wouldn’t hurt to have a couple of thousands of visitors every month more than before, even if it’s not he most targeted... i think you still can use it; the problem is...how do you make your images get on the first page?...because I’ve been trying and nothing extraordinary came out of it...

 

I have social networking site that gets most of its traffic from image searches. Unfortunately, the traffic is not very high in quality because people who found it through the images are interested in only the pictures, not other contents.

 

I am not doing anything special to rank, but I am ranking very highly for amazing terms.

Descriptive domain, Descriptive folder, Descriptive location, Descriptive meta tags, relevant content, ALT tag and DONE~

One term I am ranking on the second page in google images has 36,000,000 results in google- 10,000,000 in Google images. Cows, for instance, has just 28,000,000 results in Google and 6,000,000 in google images.

 

How long does your ranking remain? Is it only a short-term boost?

 

I've been ranking for these keywords for months. Mayday caused no issues with Google images ranking, but it did do minor damage to regular SERP.

 

Image ranking can really bring a lot of traffic to self websites. I have a friend and most of his site's traffic is come from image ranking.
