I am very nervous and praying that this is the correct board for this. Here is why I think it IS the correct board: This is an SEO question, it is about link building for SEO. If there is something I am missing here and it is the wrong board, PLEASE do not give me a warning, just talk to me. I'm trying to do the right thing here. Okay, onto the subject. How do I make authority sites WANT to link to me? I see links on authority sites same as other sites. What do I do to get recognised by them? I am STUCK. Can anyone help?
First of all, Calm down! don't worry - you're on the right forum. lol. Oookay, first - build a reputation. Not quite sure what do you mean specifically when you said 'authority' but BIG or POPULAR sites will also link to other websites who has reputation that has at least surpassed or somewhere near their level. Second - ask yourself, why would they even linkback to you? If you have a gaming blog or website, why do you think Gamespot would want to link to you?
Because we are an AWESOME game! I'm serious. 100% effing serious. Our members love it, some of them are addicted to the point that their parents are often limiting their time on the site. {We don't condone that, of course, but it happens.} Our staff is beloved by the members, and....I'd go on but I'd start to sound like I only opened this thread to plug my site, and I didn't, I already plug us elsewhere so yeah, our forum is a game itself, a roleplaying game. And if authority game blogs or sites are looking to link out to good games, we have got the goods. As long as they are cool with forum based game. So my question now is how to build that kind of a reputation? Thanks for responding btw!
Exposure, Advertisement and Viral marketing! I've tried forum RPGs before and they are indeed popular, however they can also fall down quite quickly. Make sure that you make it lively and promote all sorts of stuff! Build a reputation that even your members would suggest your website to other people and that where viral marketing starts! If you're targeting young audiences, it would be best to dominate social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook. Make your website so addicting and contagious and you'll have the reputation you need!
Well you should always update your members about the latest in roleplaying games. Provide them with content they would love to read like reviews or guides for the latest games. Through word of mouth, you site will become popular and other game blog webwasters will soon make a review about your forum. Just be consistent in providing your members with what they look for in a game forum. I think that's the key to build a good reputation.
If you want to climb to the top of the ladder then you have to start at the first rung. If I was trying to get back-linked by an authority site I would first start of trying to get links from lesser sites. As your reputation grows then move up to getting links from more renowned sites. Repeat until you get to the authroity site you are seeking. Maybe the authority site you want has paid advertising? Maybe they have accept articles from guest writers. Maybe just contact them and ask their advice about what they are looking for from people they recommend / back-link to. Plenty of options wen you start to think about it.
Yup I've got facebook and twitter campaigns well under way as well as members talking to their friends about it. sometimes their friends or siblings do join. It's generally either, they love it, or they don't catch onto it and leave. Those who love it LOVE it. We work hard to make it an awesome game. Paid advertising is generally a poor quality link {plus I'm broke cause I'm already paying to advertise on some sites!} I could look into the possibility of writing guest articles though. I'll take a look and see what I find. How you make a campaign viral though? I just don't get it. We're talking about not just me but my members advertising. We've got over 30 videos for it on youtube. I tried a press release and nothing really happened.
Well you are in the hands of the people when it comes to that. Viral just means it grows fast and exponentially in terms of hits and links. If people don't really "get it" or "like it" then it won't go viral.
Calm down! don't worry, you can try to write the best quality article for them, then they will get backlink to you website!

Actually i got my first Ezine article approved today. Now though, how does this help my site? Will a lot of people read it? They said they approved me as an expert author status but I don't know if they say that to most people.
