Outdated Site now Redirected. Will this effect My Serps?

I was running a site that was all over the news. It became an authority for many keywords.

The problem now is the site is outdated as of last week.

If anyone is familiar with sports then you know LeBron James just signed with Miami.

The Site I speak of is http://www.sendlebrontochicago.com

What should I do with this site?

Is redirecting it to a non-outdated, same niche site a good course of action? Would I lose all my rankings.

    Please give me advice!

    Thanks!

Lose rankings for which site? The outdated or non-outdated?

Man, if only LeBron went to Chicago, you'd have a cash cow in your hands haha.

I don't see it hurting your non-outdated site. However, since the LeBron James site is probably not directly relevant to the non-outdated site, you may gradually lose the rankings you had on the LeBron James site.

For example, one of my clients went through a brand name change. Their old brand name was a high search volume keyword and they naturally ranked #1 for it. Once they changed names (and domains) they still ranked #1 for the keyword for a few months, but gradually lost rankings and now sits on the top of the second page.

I am thinking of creating a LeBron Hate site now lol

He is hated in his hometown of cle and the 3 largest markets 1 NY, LA, Chi

So I would get a lot of targeted traffic.

If I redireected sendlebrontochicago to a hate site what would be the positives/negatives in the serps? What should I expect?

Hahah. A hate site will generate a huge following right now and would be so easy to push on Social Media sites. I'd probably end up following it on FB.

What kind of keywords is the LeBron to Chicago website ranking for? It certainly won't hurt your hate site's rankings and will probably help out with LeBron James keywords. What I would do is create a new post on LeBronChicago announcing the new hate site with a link or two. Then, maybe after a few weeks 301 redirect it.
