If we consider the exact match and target the keywords for our site, then do you think that we can really get the top position. What we have to do in order to get our site in Top position.
Well it would be a bit more helpful if you were more specific but in order to get the top spot for a keyword you need two things, better on page optimization than the number one site and more quality backlinks than the number one site. You asked, "What we have to do in order to get our site in Top position?" You need to analyze the number one site from head to toe. You need to assess all their On Page efforts in terms of Title, META Keywords, META Descriptions, H1 Headings, Bolded Words, Content Density, Anchor texts, Image ALT Tags etc. and then you need to assess their link building campaign. Where are their links coming from, how many links they have, what is the anchor text of those links, etc. Once you have all that data you can begin out optimizing your competitor both On and Off page. Then it is all down to hard work and consistency.
It is easy to bring a site on top position, but it need hardwork and patient. Building more relevant and quality back links will help us.
Simply you can create a META tags: <meta content='text/html; charset=utf-8' http-equiv='Content-Type'/> <meta content='your description' name='description'/> <meta content='your target keywords' name='keywords'/> place it in between the <head> ..... </head> section near the top part of your template XML code.
What are meta tags by the way....I am new about SEO so I don't have a lot of idea about it so I want to learn more..
@ DanielCW Your opinion is exactly correct. Analyzing your competitor is really important. I mean to say that Is that the Exact phrase do we need to consider and can we target the same exact phrase in our websites?
I don't think there's a simple, straight forward, Step A to Z thing to follow in order to get your site to top in your keyword because if such an objective method exists and everyone in your keyword niche does it, who is going to be number 1? SEO is a guessing game at best. Metas are only one small part of the big picture.
I totally agree with you here. Bringing a site on top position is one thing.. remaining there and keep evolving is another thing. They all required the right tool of technologies and long hours of work to make it happens.. You should look around this forum of what people say about adding plug-in and increasing traffic. Good luck!
It also depends on the competition of keyword. Low competition keyword = less effort and time. High competition keyword = more effort and time.
