3000 backlinks yet zero ranking in google. WHY?

I have read everywhere that the key to high google PR is in building back-links to my site so when i created one of my blogs i did a log of link building and now i have over 3000 back-links but to my dismay my PR is still 0. I have seen other sites as i have shown in the attachment with far fewer back-links yet have better ranking. More surprising to me is that one of those domains the one with the PR=5 is less than a month old.

Can someone pls tell me that all that the gurus have been saying about backlinks and PR is balderdash or give me the possible explanation.

The result with the red arrow is mine and you can see the rest yourself as it baffles me.

I had a quick look at your backlinks in yahoo site explorer. Of your 3000 backlinks, 2995 seem to be from one domain. So, 2994 won't be counted.

Look, backlinks is the ONLY factor when determing your PageRank. No matter what experiences you have. And just like magda noticed when looking at your backlinks, they are all VERY weak. There is nothing strange about your result, you just need to change your link building strategy.

P.S. And maybe you just realized that Angela/Pauls methods ain't gonna help you ;)

OK I got that now. But what link building strategy is better. Also i am baffled that most of my links in squidoo, hubpages, and other web20 sites are not showing in yahoo explorer.

Well, the simple answer is that they aren't indexed (as you have noticed). Long story short, you use article directories, SB, squidoo, hubpages as an easy way to build links for small sites that aim for keywords with very little to no competition. Also known as the suckers way to build links, which is the reason why sellers keep talking about the importance of contentcontext relevance and how it overpowers PageRank. Newbies start believing in it and fail. You want a higher PageRank which is a whole other story.

But come on! Your site is about "dominating Google"!

No, opensiteexplorer.org does not give a 'more realistic picture'. Only indexed backlinks count. Whether or not it is the best method you have used depends on your target. Like, if you live in the city a small car can be usfull cause it makes it easier to find a place to park it. But if you wanna go off-road, I would suggest a monster truck.

Are your back links from a pr0 site? or are they varied. Remember that backlinks from the same site have little value

If you've so many links from PR-0 sites, then no prob you can still get a rank, only the thing is all these sites need to be indexed in google, but the OP prob is that he got backlinks from same site, so that my not be counted as many ppl said here.

When it comes to PageRank it doesn't matter if the links are from the same domain, though it may affect ones rankings. Jesus, 95 % of what is posted on this forum is either misleading or incorrect.

One things i ve gotten so far: If backlinks from a single domain is counted as one link no matter how many. I hope i got that right siflur? But the truth is that i have made several other link building activities yet many of them are not reflrcting when i check on siteexplorer i only see 2 sites linking back to me. What of links from other sites like the one from this forum for example. Sething seems to be wrong and i need help to find that out.

You have to differ between PageRank and (serp) rankings. When Google determen your PageRank, it DOESN'T matter if the links are from the same domain (Google have stated this and everything I have seen backs it up). But some will argue, that many backlinks from the same domain will have less effect on your rankings. I haven't seen any evidence of this, but that doesn't make it a wrong statement.

It is true that to get high ranking and page rank you need backlinks but

Links should be from quality site.

    100 irrelevant backlinks = 1 Quality backlink

Get links from dofollow sites :- dofollow websites shares page rank with you.

You dont have any backlink in google check this yourgoogledata if this didnt work then go to google.com and type link:ebusinessideas.net/ and search results are zero.

the link operator in Google doesn't show anything but a small sample of backlinks - or sometimes none at all - as a matter of policy. This is NOT how to find out what backlinks you have.

Thanks to all who contributed. The solution lies in quality links from ranking sites. But my question is "must these quality sites be from my niche to make them count?" Cos some one gave me a list of high PR sites to get back-links from but since most of them are not from my niche.

Also i have built what i asume to be some backlinks in some high ranking sites but non of these are showing up in all the tools i have used to check backlinks. For example i have my links on my twitter profile, ehow (pr7), blogger (pr8), statcounter pr8, ezinearticles pr6 ,goarticle pr6, digitalpoints pr6, blogged blog catalog, bloglisting other high pr blogs and they all seem to have no effect neither have they shown up in all my searches.

That is what is confusing me. I also know that on-page factors matter so much and i am trying to work on that areas too.
