Do NOT go with Hostgator.com

Seriously it will take you less then 1 minute to go in and remove the link get over it. For the price you pay its nothing and as people have said the Fantastico applications are not updated so its quicker to just install them your self.

And as for speeds there hosting runs fast for me and the support is 100% every hosting company makes mistakes they have made there's.

 

lol, first time I saw this post I really find it so funny. I was laughing out loud for Gator. And that was yesterday and today I really look for this thread coz I really wanted to saying something about this.

The way I see it, Gator is coming cheaper and cheaper everyday, their promos looks so desperate and their site design looks like they could not hire any good web designer lol. And now this... lol...

Now I am guessing that they might have change management or owner.

anyway goodluck to those people under host gator.

Oh, it's so useful information.
Many times i wanna to host my web, but i get a new offer in hostmonster for good service.
I have join hostgator affiliate, i'm blinded coz of the commission.
This information make me open my eyes to careful to choose web hosting

 

this has to happen only under special circumstances. i have DOZENS of sites with them and have none of this.
They have been the best hosting company i have ever used.

and their customer service is the best out there.
if you are wondering about HG, id go to their site and click the chat box and ask them if this is the case
and if so, then when does it apply or why.
because i have no experience with this, even while using templates supplied by them.

 

You should stop posting fake reviews with 87 posts.
You might be an Hostgator employee and REAL customer reviews speak for themselves.

It happen on NEW blogs installed with FANTASTICO.
So if you already had blogs installed, of course you did not see any change!

 

A few sites i visit host with HostGator, as far as i know they're a good host with good up-time.

 

I do very much agree with you as I open ticket with HG but they still no reply me and it already been 3 week.

THIS IS A FAKE REVIEW.
Host gator does NOT infact put on their sites.
I have used a dozen hosts and they are simply the best.
They have LIVE customer support that goes out of their way to help.
Trust me, once you use HG you want go back to your old host.

But if you are running anything shady, i wouldnt use them.
They are a legit straight forward company.
Im taking a complete stab here and guessing that these couple a'please
are either using free hosting or are out of the U.S.
because i GUARANTEE their US paying customers do NOT have to deal with this
if they are on one of the 3 normal plans.

GUARANTEED.
Again, their customer support is untouchable and unbelievable.
are they perfect, no, but they are head over toes better than anything else out there!

As mentioned i install a new fresh Wordpress installation on some of my domains, via Fantastico.
When succeeding this installation that sneaky link plugin is installed and activated without any notification and agreement.

So who's "shady" here?!

This is terrible. Very cheap trick played by Hostgator to get customers. Even after charging their fees they can play such cheap tricks, really sad to read this. Hope it is fixed soon.

 

There is a BIG difference between visiting a site and owning it and having it hosted with host gator - I know I WAS (note past tence) a reseller many years ago for them.
I left because we were treated like shit. No Support , if we did get it the support morons never read the history to see at what stage a problem was at. We never got the same support person twice in a row on any ticket, so everything had to start from zero again and again and again and again and again..............
Enough I think you get the message.

 

I got reply from Hostgator directly & happy with the explanation.

They promised this thing will not happen again

i have used hostgator, installed many cms and blogs and never found such an issue. But if you say, its like that I will never choose hostgator anymore.
that will be a goodbye from many too.

 

I have had HostGator for 3 months now and I don't see this link you speak of on any of my blogs. I did use Fantastico to install it too. Oh well.

 

As someone who recently switched from GoDaddy to Host Gator (3 months) my experience with them thus far has been utterly superb.

Whereas GoDaddy always blamed the users for the notorious slow speed of WordPress blogs, the evidence is quite contrary and numerous as to it being GoDaddy's issue from their overcrowded servers.

Further, as it relates to the nefarious "footer plug-in" it only appears if you use Host gator's script to install a WordPress blog, which is the same footer inclusion that GoDaddy uses when you use their magical-one-touch-slow-as-heck install.

If you manually install WordPress by uploading the .ZIP package via FTP, extract, create a MySQL database - poof no evil Footer plug-in.

Their "Hosted By" inclusion is no worse in my opinion than when a theme coder leaves their signature in the footer.

Thus, in review, the speed of which my website now loads coupled with the excellent tech support 24/7 phone or chat and NOT outsourced all leave me very satisfied with Host Gator.

 

Host gator have no right to add anything to their auto installers without notifying you of this prior to your using it. I strongly suspect it will be well hidden in the small print.
The truth is Host gator and Brent's morals and ethics are very questionable.

He tried to buy me off and pay me to remove my honest comment about them.
How many more has he approached that have accepted the hush money???

 

Hostgator hosting has become very slow these days though this wasn't the case few months back for my website. I often see errors from hostgator on my website and its increasing day by day. I am waiting for my hosting period to complete so I can swtich to another better host.
