    Dear mods n admin,
I just want to know more about the rule of not making duplicate account. I am from India and joined DP last year. I have multiple net connections (say 2-3) and also due to network problems, I use my Friend's net connection (not PC).
few days back, my friend's id was banned and the reason was the infraction for duplicate account. I guess that happened because I used his net connector device to open my DP account several time.
I dont know much about these things but do you classify accounts on the basis of IP address or are there other protocols too? Please explain so that I can explain my friend about the problem.

    Thanks:)

Don't shoulder the blame. Had we found evidence that you and he were one and the same member, your member ID would be red like his.

NO its not right mod. why would I make another account if I am having a good established account here? I guess there is some issues with the Ip address detection tool. seriously I have many reputed friends here and you can inquire about me :)

    More details:
he owns: an Airtel net connection and a reliance net connection
I own: a Bsnl net connection, a MTS net connection and an airtel net connection.

due to some network issues with my net connections (happens mostly in my region- Jharkhand), I used to use his reliance net connector device in my PC to open my own id.

Was that against rules respected mod?

IP's are recorded by VB in a simple pattern & usually they are recorded at the time of sign up & while you make a new post or thread.

One final note, since you are in India you will find that you share IP addresses with a large number of users. Thats just how telecoms in your country works. We understand that.
