I personally don't have any particular strategy for Yahoo SEO. I do everything based around Google rankings. What I have found however is that some of my websites that rank very well in Google rank poorly in Yahoo and vice versa. In fact, I don't have any websites at all that rank consistency in Yahoo and Google.
Same happen to me, only focus on the google seo. However, it shows good result in yahoo search too, just it might take longer time
Interesting...I have found that often my Yahoo ranking is very good in a short period of time for some sites. but for other sites it stays poor no matter what, even though Google ranking increases dramatically. I have read that Yahoo puts alot of weight on keyword domain names, eg, a website domain fastcars.com would rank well for the keyword fast cars even if it doesn't rank well in Google for the same keyword. Anyone else seen this?
I noticed that Yahoo! Search Engines merely works on Number of Backlinks! the more number of backlinks along better relevancy of the title can easily guide you through to impressive rankings
i do submit my sites ion various directories and do social boolmarking and linkbuilding i think yahoo result depends on more backlinks
Ok, interesting. It seems that relevancy of the title (as in domain i assume you mean) matters a great deal. All my sites with keyword based domains rank very well, where they often don't in Google.
This is an interesting topic. My site is number 1 in yahoo for a specific keyword and my domain is the same name as my site title, but I'm nowhere to be seen in Google.
What seo techniques are you using? And are you targeting Yahoo? Or is that just the way it's happened?
This is actually rather interesting. I never focus on ranking on Yahoo! - I just optimize my site for Google and automatically rank well in Yahoo! and Bing. Pretty awesome.
Are there any specific SEO techniques you use for Google that you find boosts Yahoo and/or Bing rankings too?
The techniques I have used so far are just the all in one seo plugin for wordpress and backlinks. I don't have many backlinks so I assume it's down to the plugin. To be honest, I didn't target yahoo at all. I've been focusing on Google, and as yet, to no avail. The traffic I've had from Yahoo is very little, almost none.
Ok, interesting...Thanks! Yes I find the same...I use headspace and backlinks, but rank well i Yahoo and not in Google. But very little yahoo traffic!
To me, it's pretty clear that we're using different SEO strategies. I've been performing SEO on websites for almost two years now and since the beginning - my strategies have changed drastically. Get listed in DMOZ and Yahoo directory as it favors those heavily. Also Yahoo answers, and Buzz as their algorithm is most likely to favor properties for which it owns
Pretty much the same as every other search engine. However, Yahoo appears to value high PR sites more than Google. Google tends to be a bit more sceptical about new or old sites that gain a high PR link. Do this too many times and Google may drop your positions but, Yahoo will love you.
Domain aging is becoming a solid way of determining a sites long term value and quality score. It is just one of many (100+ factors), but it’s becoming more important nowadays.
I understand that a longstanding domain is better than a new domain. What I don't get is how registering a domain for 2-5 years is any better than 1 year. Google/Yahoo doesn't know how long you register your domain for.
