Good question. From what I understand, BW, your smart suggestion would work, BUT it would make the well permanently unusable. That means BP never gets any of that oil.
Corwin, lets hope not - for all the pollution just give them a tax break to drill a new one "correctly" or let them use the relief wells after plugging the present one. Actually the relief wells are being drilled to allow for the present one to be filled with cement already. It does make one wonder why a 21" tub can not be plugged one way or another? - remove the preventer if necessary and stick a tree down it.....
Now THAT is the best idea I've ever heard! As far as the relief wells - I admit I haven't studied the Engineering involved in drilling those wells. They've worked six out of seven times. But this is the deepest relief well ever attempted, and I admit I'm skeptical of anything BP says.
Maybe next time the EPA will let them drill ON SHORE, or CLOSER to it, like they wanted in the first place.
The States set the limits - why this happened in Louisiana and not Florida and why California has now rescinded the rights off their shores.
Err, the EPA is the reason that well is where it is. PERIOD. Not for environmental reasons, but for aesthetic reasons. Blighting the landscape and all. The oil was not in 5000 feet of water.
Actually the way it works is: American Liberals blame the PAST president for everything once they are OUT of office. Liberal Presidents do as well. Most Americans don't blame. They don't want. They don't ask. They just believe their president should do their job, and nothing more.
People only voted for him because he was black anyway. Now that he's in they turn on him. lol america.
There's a lot of truth in that statement. Probably a lot more than most realize. It's unfortunate though. Because of that, you may never see a black president again, at least no for a long time. Same goes for a female speaker.
I don't know how competent he is but definitely more than McCain. I think he won because he was up against McCain.
He won for multiple reasons. He was not Bush. He was kinda black. He was not Bush. He got more votes. He got more over votes. He got more dead votes. He got more homeless votes (in trade for underwear and cigarettes) He was not Bush. He sounded well spoken. He spoke better than Bush. He was not Bush. People in Hollywood liked him. Oh, and he was not Bush.
The Republicans were more than happy when Obama was nominated, the liberal African American would not have a chance against McCain. Some are already counting their chickens (before they're hatched) - the right wing has peaked and will pull the rest of the pack down with them, a distant thud for a hopeless cause.
