Will flash be dead ?

I heard about lot of people saying that "flash will be dead due to html5". Is this statement justified ?

 

Not for quite a while but, once all the elements of HTML5 are in place and more stable, Flash might see more limited usage since the HTML5 tech is built in to the browser, might be faster, uses less memory, and developers don't need to learn another language to use it. Plus, Flash is proprietary. But this will take a number of years before it would become a minor player. However, Flash doesn't run on Apple products, runs poorly on *nix/BSD, and mobile devices may be glad to see flash go away.

 

Flash will always be around it seems but HTML5 sounds exciting because of its drag and drop that you see mostly in flash.

 

I don't think many serious web developers use Flash these days anyway, except for Flash games it's better to do effects using Javascript as it has better compatibiility

 

Yes. iDevices don't support it, and Google can't index it.

Yes, trust Symantec...The company whos security suite is fully "closed". Their software mostly says: "hey! u got a virus...oh crap they havent gave me new definitions for it so i cant touch it. sorry my bad."

Well If my PC wasn't supporting flash it would crash too. Yes working with a company is always one sided as it means you tell them to fix it, but dont do anything yourself.

I like html5 and all, but you don't have to make ignorant comments to promote it. I for one believe that when html5 can do exactly everything that flash can do, it will still slow the comp down. wow maybe a 2megabytes and 80mhz faster than flash.

Languages/software all start the same way, fast as a fart at first, but add more features and it bogs down to near constipation. ie. flash, java, javascript, firefox, IE, opera, windows, now osx, even some flavors of linux. The list goes on.

tl;dr: so yeah flash may die off. but eventually we'll all be cussing about html5. just like we do jQuery and flash.

Flash won't die, it will evolve. But when and how? That is the question. Behemoths in the industry are battling things out and the outcome of those battles will define the future of Flash.

youtube sites can pull off the same thing with simple html5. Their already getting ready for it. notice the layout change recently? yeah, thats the only advantage of flash so far. its easier to align things the way you want it. If only wysiwyg editors will let you drag and drop while coding in html5 then it would be easier.

Also would php support these new features? I mean if i got a cool html5 dependant coded theme and i wanted it in WP, would php support it? Something else to think about too.

 

Adobe need to pull their finger out. Apple want it killed badly.

 

PHP is server-side code. It will present whatever client-side content and code you want. HTML5 or really, HTML anything, is all client-side.
