Server Suggestions (vBulletin 4.0 suite)

Could someone please give me some suggestions on what kind of server I'm going to need if I decide to purchase vBulletin 4.0 Publishing Suite? My forum is brand new (this month) and has no users yet. However, most of what I've read says that vBulletin is a resource hog so if I decide to go with that software I want to make sure I'll be good for at least 6 months. At the same time, though, I don't want to buy too much more than I need right now.

I know it depends a lot on how many members/posts I expect in the future, but if someone could give me some help I would surely appreciate it.

By the way, the reason I'm looking for another forum software is because right now I'm using phpBB and it simply doesn't have all the features that I need without adding a ton of hacks/mods which I'd rather not do if I could help it.

I prefer and use a VPS (Servint: Essential) for the flexability and the upward scaleability whenever it becomes necessary.

But what am I looking a here spec wise? I mean, I'm pretty sure just any VPS won't handle it will it?

You would be fine with shared hosting for first couple of years.
HostGator would be a nice choice.

Well if you want a server that will scale out to where you will be 6 months from now, you would need to have some sort of estimate of your traffic/user base in 6 months. :)

Good point. Let's assume that I plan on having approximately 200 concurrent users at the peak time of day. That's probably a weighted estimate.

FYI: I will definitely be using vBulletin as I just purchased the license earlier today. :)
