Hello! I am working on a website for a new project I am working on. http://sburton0.50webs.com/extmod/ It's just a simple layout with a couple of CSS3 effects. It's not entirely finished yet, but it's almost there. What do you guys think?
The center image is abit boring and going with gray on gray is nothing interesting. Id advise for more images but if your aiming for pure simplicity it might be best. Id say 2/5 in uniqueness And a 1/5 in interestingness (its a word now) 4/5 in simplicity
Text is bland - you need a better font. If your going for simplicity vertically center it. Footer needs to be smaller - less obtrusive.
Buttons on the right can have a bit more feel if they are in some other color (say mild red or bright orange?). Any logo in the top middle would be better than just plain text. Hope this helps.
Nope, im a coder - but i'm liking what you did with the footer(Possible make it a size or two smaller).
Might want to tone down the yellow sun it is very hard on the eyes difficult to see the rest of the web page . Not sure what the site is about on this home page unless it is the TX weather channel.
The text on the phone looks like it should be a working menu, I tried to click it. Is it going to be a menu?
I agree with phpmatt, the text on the phone looks like it should be a working menu - and I actually think it would be cool if it was. One way to differentiate them from being links is to use a non-web font on your real button links. That would give your website some more character, and also create a style for real links versus plain text. You definitely nailed simplicity - and since that's what you're going for, that's a good thing. I agree with others that you should work on the phone a bit - since it is the main focus on your website, you'll want to make sure you put a good amount of detail into it. I think the footer would look better if it was either right aligned with the buttons or left aligned with the phone, it sort of feels like it's floating in the middle of no where right now. Hope that helps.
Thanks for the suggestions The phone is supposed to be representative of the new project I'm working on. It is going to be a web application that is extensible and modular to any platform. I will be releasing a beta soon. I've modified the phone image
I was about to code a page, and realized it wasn't going to be SEO-friendly. Something tells me yours likely isn't. I love the active menu idea for the phone image though. My first thought as well.
