Obviously stop driving cars, stop flying planes, stop cutting trees, stop burning fossil fuels and go back to living in caves, hunting for food and drinking dirty water, like the old days.

I think it would since there aren't many electricity supplies in caves for 1) Google to power their servers and 2) us plug in a computer and access it. =]

Living in a cave for a couple of hundred years would give the Earth a chance to heal.

Well, the smoke emission should be reduced, if not, use alternative sources of energy.

Little daily contribution would be nice. Don't waste tap water when you do not use it. Switch off your pc, don't just let it running there if your eyes are on TVs.. many many more..

    Measures to prevent global warming

I found an interesting list of measures to mitigate the effect of global warming. The list has been proposed by a member of CSIC. What I like is that they are simple to implement and very practical:

    1. Transportation. Reduce individual and promote the collective resources.
    2. Domestic energy. Lower your costs with electrical energy label or turn off completely (not standby mode).
    3. Waste. Encourage waste separation and recycling.
    4. Materials. Reused whenever possible (paper, toys, tools, furniture ...) and avoid using bags, boxes and packaging.
    5. Water. Reduce your intake by placing, for example, bottles in the tanks.
    6. Irrigation. Minimize watering gardens and promote drip system.
    7. Urbanize. Only where water is known to be sufficient long term. In many cases licenses are issued where there is water.
    8. Nature. Respect protected areas and minimize impact on natural areas.
    9. Casas. Built with good thermal insulating materials for investment in heating and air conditioning is less
    10. Slits. Improve insulation in windows and doors because between 5% and 10% of household heat escapes through them.
    11. Photovoltaic panels connected to the mains.
    12. Alternative energy. Giving more value and be willing to finance them. If all the support, will be profitable, but more expensive.
    13. Taxes. Allow to be allocated for the conservation of resources.
    14. Soil. Minimize changes in land use and, in general, artificial soil.
    15. Impact. Giving more importance to environmental impact assessment and consider other alternatives expensive, but environmentally friendly
    16. Species. Do not move them outside their place of origin.
    17. Invaders. No loose pets and pets. They can be invasive species.
    18. Chemicals. Minimize use of chemicals such as antibiotics, fertilizers ... and aerosols.
    19. Educating children on the value of the goods that ecosystems provide us.
    20. Governments. Require long-term sustainable management of natural resources.

Let's see if together we are improving the world in which we live.
