It's difficult to imagine how paranoid we should be after what this administration has done to private sector employment in the U.S.

Thanks for the link, facinating read!
It's interesting that the states with the most serious fiscal shortfalls - California, Illinois, New York, etc - are all dominated by Democrats.

The Republicans fiddle by promoting the war in Afghanistan as necessary and using such causes to promote their own agendas while conversely denying the American people the same means at their disposal to improve their own well being.

The Obama Administration decision to begin removing troops from Afghanistan and limiting our engagement in the conflict is what McCain and the rest of them should be held accountable for - to begin putting this countries priorities in the proper perspective and solving our own problems instead of their self promoting and irrational posturing for the coming elections.

Steele is right about one thing, one more minute in Afghanistan is one minute too many.

Yes, we are heading for a depression where nobody will eat; gold will be the only valuable asset; and people will run around with their hands on their head. Chicken Little.

    Wow, that's all one sentence!

@BW, do you think that Obama and the Democratic congress are to blame for the FAILED EFFORTS to clean up the BP oil spill? Why did Obama reject assistance from 16 countries, including Canada? Canada actually runs drills on capping and cleaning up spills EXACTLY like this one, right?

Do you think Obama should be held accountable for mis-managing this mess, because Obama has no management experience?

Well, to be redundant, tell that to Virginia Holwell. She worked for the state, now has no job.

Life is full of choices. Even in the best of times, 1% of the US population is in prisons. Millions of mentally ill have no money and are homeless. Deal with the problems or offer solutions. Chicken little types are boring to listen to.

I read somewhere the vast majority of our homeless have some degree of mental illness. Not to sound like a liberal, but this is a problem that needs to be addressed by state governments at some point.

At the risk of sounding like a paranoid American or chicken little, I found this interesting:
Essentially, 35.3% of those of working age in America are not working. Granted, there are some college students, early retirees, and independently wealthy in that number, but it is still shocking. Sounds more like Zimbabwe than America. As insult on top of injury, the Democrats are trying to push through another $50 Billion dollars in red ink, generational theft, and wealth redistribution under the name of the Obama Jobs Bill. In the newspeak the Obama Admin has grown famous for, they have gone far out of their way to make sure this bailout is not called a "Stimulus" package.

In the end, the American people must be held accountable. We voted the child into office.

This depression is the "change" we voted for.

We got the government we deserved.

Like sticking your hand in the fire only to pull it back burnt. Sure it's painful, but hopefully there is a lesson learned. It will be interesting to see what lessons people take away from this.

Judging from the people I've been speaking with lately, the takeaway will be "we didn't put our hand far enough into the fire or keep it there long enough." :p

How many people on this forum have lived through a United States depression before? Although the number is zero, somehow you can tell the rest of the world that depression is near, run for the hills, listen to Alex Jones, buy gold.

    Intellectually dishonest by many people.

That reminds me, The Modern Survival Manual: Surviving the Economic Collapse is a book written by Fernando Ferfal Aguirre based upon his experiences during the Argentine economic crisis of 1999–2002.

FerFAL also runs a blog Surviving in Argentina.

When the shit hits the fan, gold won't be useful the most useful commodity. Focus on water, food, and ammo. And don't, under any circumstances, listen to Alex Jones. :p

A great many of us are students of history. Still more of us have living Parents or Grandparents who lived through the Depression. That said, the similarities in policy and power shift are uncanny. All one need do to predict the future is look at the past.

It is not necessary to smell the bottom of a trashcan to know it stinks. All it takes is common sense. If the people who were responsible for the flow of cash confessed to being responsible for the depression of the 1930´s, who would believe them ?

Not exactly why you have made the calamity in the Gulf a major issue against the Obama Administration, particularly with an Edenist as your being a Christian. Referencing Canada may not suit your purpose - they approved drilling in Arctic waters, now on hold though due to the calamity as realizing the relief well would require two summers to drill due to icing that would allow the rupture to flow unimpeded for that amount of time.

They are though far more reasonable with the Great Lakes - Where the Christians built chemical plants to discharge untreated waist into the lakes to save their $$, Canadians passed laws prohibiting the practice and provided many national parks along their Great Lakes shore lines - Something all Christians disdain as one example.

I hear christian conservatives are working on a new high emissions low performance vehicle that runs on the blood of baby harp seals! I've already got my name on the waiting list.

Acts 26:28 Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.
