Hello Lately I've been building a lot of links from article submission but my rankings haven't really improved. I'm just wondering where are the best places to get backlinks and what makes backlinks count? What makes quality backlinks? Is it getting a backlink from a site with thousands of backlinks pointing to that site, or is it getting a backlink from a site/page with high PageRank or what? What does Google count as quality backlinks that will help my SERPS improve?
It depends on your competition. If it is high then you need high quality backlinks as well as average quality backlinks to compete those numbers. Guest blogging is another good option to get backlinks while buying links on blog posts with high PR (PR2+) also works.
Hi, Quality backlinks means it must come from Authoritative aged dofollow ontopic site. But be sure to get links from different sites or different types of sites.
Not trying to be rude but this isn't the question I asked. I just want to know are backlinks going to help me more with my search engine ranking positions. If the sites I get backlinks from have high PR, if those sites have thousands of backlinks to them or what?
As for ranking, it depends on competitiveness, backlinks of your site and time. The best backlink is the whole site one-way links back to your site.
linking to related sites would be consider as quality links. Also article alone can't support SEO in the long run try to think of other ways to improve your linking strategy.
Paid person to create backlinks from high PR site.. it can be submiting on bundred of forum or commenting blog service.. maybe it can help our site PR.
Okay nobody seems to be understanding my question.. If I want to move up in Google for my keyword, do I need backlinks with my keyword as the anchor text from: 1) sites with thousands of backlinks pointing to them 2) sites with high PageRank Or both or what? Basically if I get a backlink on a high PR site, will it help my site move up in the rankings or if I get a backlink on a site where that domain has thousands of backlinks pointing to it will my site move up?
In my own experiences, quality backlinks would mainly come from: 1. niche relative sources, authority sites with high PR would be better 2. less on page outbounded links 3. with correct keywords as anchor text all the best,
quality backlinks would be relevant back links, high pr backlinks, web 2.0 profile links, .edu / .gov links, etc

I think it would be better getting paid links at sites having very high number of backlinks and having high PR, provided the site has relevant content, relevant updates every day and looks to have good potential in future. Hope this helps
Try to do niche submission along with a high PR sites. Still there are lot other factors that is to be consider to get a good SERP.
In order for your website to move up in Google, you need backlinks with your anchor text from sites with thousands of backlinks pointing to them. A site with thousands of backlinks is a site with a high PR. So a) and b) are basically the same thing, but with different names. One thing to bear in mind is to always get relevant links. Don't just go for high PR links.
The idea is to get the diversity of backlinks. Articles, Blogrolls, Blog comments, Social bookmarking, etc. You should also try to get some .EDU backlinks ( There is a guide how to get .EDU backlinks in my signature) They are very valuable.
