Here is the one biggest secret to google and how to rank for high quality keywords: Backlinks Yup, thats it. Now I am not talking about getting 1 million PR NA links and suddenly you will rank high. Its about quality backlinks. If your site has no PR 1 or higher backlinks you will do terrible for any quality keywords. If you get lots of PR 1 or higher backlinks you will see how much of a difference it will make. It will do wonders for you! Also those high pr backlinks have to have the anchor text of the keyword you are working on, otherwise it won'd do much good. Some people say, its about writing quality content. Thats the secret but the truth is that has little to do with it. Quality content is for getting natural backlinks, but those links could be terrible backlinks and the anchor text could be for terrible keywords. Lets face it, the google bots aren't that smart. It has no idea what a, "good" article is and what a, "bad" article is. Thats why google uses backlinks to figure that out! You could write a terrible article but if you get tons of high quality high pr links to that article, it will rank high. This is my personal story. I am trying to rank good for a keyword that gets about 100k searches per month. Has 100 million pages indexed for it. Basically, its a high traffic keyword and lots of high pr pages take the top spots in the SERP. About six months ago, I was ranking at about 50. In the past 3 months I've gotten a few pr 1 and a few pr 2,3 links to my site. In the last month I've seen tremendous results. I went from 50 to rank 20. Mind you, that is a stable rank 20, not a rank 20 that bounces all over the place! If I keep this up, I am sure ill take a spot in the page 1 results, easily. Just imagine that, having your site on the first result page for a high traffic keyword. Its a dream for most webmasters and this is the secret to that success: high PR backlinks (with a relevant anchor text) To get these backlinks all you really gotta do is exchange links with other webmasters, theres lots in the link exchange forum. Thats where you'll get the best quality backlinks IMO. You could also contact other websites by searching on google but I haven't had much results with that idea. If you have the money, definitely buy some high pr links. WELL worth the money IMO. Also read the link development forum section, tons of high quality information being discussed there! Other stuff you could focus on for moderate results is to do keyword research. Focus on your primary keyword and then go to google.com and use the search suggest feature to find the long tale keywords. For the long tale keywords, simply write an article/guide with that keyword as the heading (h1 tag). Overtime those articles will pull in lots of traffic indirectly. There are a bunch of other good tactics that I've heard about but I'd probably have to write an ebook to explain it all in detail! just spreading the knowledge!
Preaching to the choir a bit, but yes, you are correct with how to rank. But when people dismiss content they don't really see the big picture. If you have a site that ranks well + content (which equals lots of pages indexed) then you will get a nice chunk of traffic. In fact, on a well optimized website the bulk of your traffic will be coming from those inner pages as a whole vs just your homepage.
I agree. My website has great content on inner pages - yesterday I had 174 unique visitors and none of those landed on the homepage.
Hit the nail bro. In the eyes of google all it matters is unique content (Quality does not matter) and lotta quality backlinks. Obviosuly if you have quality content then visitors will come to your site again n again, but thats not the point of discussion. In the eyes of google, any content that is unique is all good. Even non unique content with lotta quality backlinks is good.
You mean most backlinks you got were from exchanging links with others? I dont think links exchange can help if its done a lot. Please explain what do you mean by exchange?
110% agree .from quality back links we managed our website on 1st page on google.Great sharing recommended from me aswell .
Keyword-anchored, one way backlinks from high PR, highly related pages, on highly related sites will do more than anything to improve your rankings. Yes, very difficult to get, but well worth the effort. Really, the only way you can get links like this is to have a great site to link to. This means great unique content and lots of it.
I don't think it is secret that if you get backlink with pr your possition in google searches will improve. I guess you competition does not sleep and it might not be as straight forward to get on first page in google searches like you think.
Of course Backlinks are the key. And the more quality backlinks you get the more your site ranks ahead. It is no biggy secret.
Backlinks is a thing of the past dingbat. In case you don't know, they don't work anymore. There is a new Google! Now, don't fight me. I'm on top of the ball, you obviously aren't. People are still here talking and worrying about PR, PR updates, backlinks, and those prehistoric things that have no benefit now. LOL. To the previous poster, the only Google team you worked for was in your mind. Don't you get sick of these low self esteem kids posting crap here? Every freaking week a new Google insider with access to Gbot and big G's algo. surfaces here posting "I'm the man" crap to get some attention.
In my own experiences, high PR backlinks would make have priority for indexing purpose but might not help our SERP in such manner. We still need to build enough backlinks but not only some from high PR sources. Page contents, especially page title tags would be still important for ranking purpose, IMO. Have a nice day,
yes back links from high pr will help a lot to get good rankings in search engines. great article. thanks.
This thread was a good laugh It's amazing how with experience you can distinguish the crap out of the gold easily. Unless you run a non-profit website, you want people to do something on your website eg buy something, click on your ads, register etc. Now if you don't have compelling content, you wouldn't be able to do any of this. You could be the 1st site on the 1st page of google and you'll have a high bounce rate if you don't deliver quality. Next you talk about going after high PR backlinks and say that a PR N/R is no good. Google assigns PR based on incoming links. A webpage can have no PR but can still be valuable if it's on a trusted domain and getting a backlink there can be so much more beneficial than getting a high PR backlink from a crappy website. Link exchange is a thing of the past. In moderate quantity, you can see a minor improvement but done excessively, you'll might be penalised or just wasting your time. Chase high PR backlinks and just months/years down the line, you'll come crying when your website is banned. Yes backlinks will increase your rankings but not any type of backlink. If you think google is not smart enough, you're delusional. And don't preach unless you know what you're talking about. PS: C++ programmer for Google, get a life!
I agree with the OP - but it seems that Google is putting more and more weight on site age as well, these days...
