    Hi,
i was wondering if you purchase a dropped domain say with a page rank of three and only a few backlinks, will you lose the page rank when you buy and update the site?
Also if you buy a domain that was in the fashion nice and you change the content to music will this matter?
i have been googling this all arvo and it seems people sway both ways, help would be appreciated
    cheers:)

normally dropped domains will nnot retain the PR. but if the backlinnks remains they can get PR back fastly

PR depends strictly on backlinks and so if these backlinks giving it PR juice remain... so should the PR rank too! :)

But, the PR will drop to zero until the next PR update.

Also, bear in mind a lot of PRs recorded for deleting domains are forged. You absolutely must research the backlinks. There's waaaay too much garbage in that pool to just assume a number is worth buying.

I don't suggest buying dropped domains. Buying new domains is a better choice.

thanks for the great info guys just one more question though.
If you buy an aged domain that has good pr and backlinks and move it to your hosting and put a wordpress blog on it with different content to what was on it originally what happens?
do you lose the pr and backlinks?

Backlink will still there but since it is not related then it will become useless in SEO.

If you can keep the same content, the domain will keep its backlinks and PR.
But it is almost impossible unless its old owner gives you.
You are buying an expiring domain with no content, database, etc.

you could lose the pr or it may drop in the next google pr update.. but the backlinks should stay for a while until the owners of the sites linking to you see your content has changed... but these domains are still great to build new sites on as they will get ranked and spidered a lot fast then a new domain.
