Trademark infringement from a company known to be very aggressive in taking domain names. Let me guess, you haven't owned the domain for very long?

You need to read up on trademark law. Google owns the name "google" not just google.com. You can't use "google" with any extension, or even by adding words to it. It's infringement and because the name is Federally Registered, they can take it at will - which is why they didn't even bother to register it.

They own the right to use "google" - it's their trademark and servicemark. You can't even use similar spellings like "gooogle". Adding words to the domain name doesn't change the fact that you have used the word "google" - which they own. Your attempting to ride the goodwill of their name - and they are known to spend a lot of money protecting it against anyone who infringes upon it.

It will cost google over $1000 dollars to take the name from you if you put up a fight.

I suggest you offer to sell it to them rather than us.

Google also spent a lot of money fighthing for the China domain and only bought it after losing. The BIG difference is that the company which owned the China domain registered it in 1999, and google didn't obtain its first trademark registration until two years AFTER that. They lost because the company registered the domain BEFORE.

A $1,000 to google is nothing and approaching a large company to offer them their own domain name is usually not a good idea. It may work against a smaller company who will pay something rather than spend a thousand going after it, but larger companies won't pay based on prinicpal. They may offer your registration fee.

Nice reply to a post almost 5 years old... Sounds a little like "NA NE NA NE NA NA" to me... I wanted to hear what happened to the original owner's contact with Google after waiting 3 days :)
