I don't think, that copy-paste will help you to rank high...

In blog the duplicate content can be placed with back link of that website. It is not the case of duplicate contents.

There might be no problem with it in this case, but as far as I know, original, unique content will help you much to rank better in Google

I just read the entire/post/article; not sure if others did. Basically its saying the person using the duplicate content still linked back to the original source. In this case, of course it will help the original website as its being credited with the information (that's the intention of backlinks, to source/vote for what you like). Now if a "random" site took your content, and didn't link back it doesn't help your "original" articles at all, in fact it hurts it, and if there PR/authority is higher than yours you will get outranked for your own original article...which is a hard pill to swallow.

The problem is that people think that Google cares about the fact that your article is the original. They do not and they have said it many times (not directly). All they do is just pick one of the copies which they think is BEST and which will satisfy the USER the best way. This copy will be ranked. It does not matter if it is not the original!

    yeah, right.

What it's actually saying is that if some of your content is published on a very important website, with a backlink to YOUR site, you might get some traffic

    so.. er.. no sh*t, sherlock.

It never occurred to us that if we wrote something, and Yahoo or MSN or AOL or some such published it, we might get a traffic boost. I mean, incredible revelation. I can't believe we all missed that.

What it DOESN'T say is that your own publishing of the content is now irrelevant, because your content is now published on a more important site. So you've actually been 'penalized'. As you''ll realize if you go hunting on the engines for your piece.

This is a bit of a nothing post to be honest..... the "duplicate content penalty" is a myth, and always has been..... look at syndication for more clarification....

    http://www.im-wizard.com/duplicate-content-a-case-study/

Its good to see in the linked blog however that they also had good results. Hopefully people might actually stop spreading false information if more people post similar things.

Nothing really new, it has since always been like that...a duplicate content remains a duplicate content, now if the site that has the duplicate content published has a decent authority it doesn't mean it won't rank with that duplicate content page, however you should pay a close attention to the difference of a site that has occasionally posted a duplicate content AND has linked to the original source and a site which is build solely on duplicate content.

More then a myth I believe it is a "misinterpretation", the "duplicate content penalty" indeed does not exist, what actually exists is a "duplicate content filter" which is not a myth.

Yap.. I have read and agree with your article, but it will not effect till long time...I already experience that type of SEO...but once Google will find continues copied content in your website though you have good backlinks, your site can be banned from Google...

Hey... I don't agree with your article... It may give you traffic in the begining but this is not helpful or beneficial in the long term.

In my humble opinion based on the article posted, it only happens when the republisher was given the permission to submit the articles to various submission sites, with the same resource links in credit to the original writer. But it may also depend on how the content is being disseminated and promoted.

I already did a duplicate content test on my site copied (with permission of course) from another blog with the key words Phone Card Tips

The week I copied the article, the original article was on first page of Google (until now) then the next week mine was on the first page too (10th) but on the following week it dropped to 200 plus then goes back to 30th and 34th the next two weeks and goes 200 plus again until now.

I think Google finally made up its mind and knew the article on my blog was the duplicate content. Though the original article came from a more popular (better PR and more traffic) than mine, I still think Google ranked the copied article on my blog until it was sure that it is the copied content.
