    Hi Guys (and Gals),

I really want to learn AE, but I'm not sure where to start. It seems that the more information/tutorials that I find, the more confusing it becomes. I visited sites such as aetuts and video co-pilot and although I'm learning how to do some effects, I can't seem to be able to put anything together on my own.

Can anyone recommend a site or perhaps a book?

    Thanks in advance!

Its a broad concept. Actually, its a part of multimedia which requires lots of other knowledge. You should join any best animation institute. Other way is to read the good articles published in article directories. This may help you.

What version do you have? You can try this site: http://layersmagazine.com/category/aftereffects

or even I have found some basic tutorials on youtube. Search you tube for "after effects tutorials" some of them are decent esp for a beginner.

First you need to have some objectives in using After Effects as it can be used in variety of ways. You can use it for Visual Effects or for Motion Graphics, Titlings, Wire Removals and a lot more. Just chose what would you want to do with it then start with that.

Thanks. I'll take a look at the link. I've been searching through youtube and its somewhat of a hit or miss lol. But I'll just dig a little deeper!

I really want to use it for Visual Effects, Titlings, etc. I posted an example below:

Thanks everyone for your help so far!

Hey there Diva, go to Videocopilot.net. They have the best professional tutorials out there; best of all, they're free and you can download the videos to absorb them in your own time. There are even some source files provided for some of the projects. Happy vfx-ing.
