They pay through PayPal or whatever and after that you zip your website and send it to the buyer.

    1) you buy it low. But you believe it is worth much more than you paid for.
    2) you promote it. you may put some more content, create backlinks, send traffic to it directly to boost it is alexa rank
    3) no when it all promotted and looks like a really hot thing - you sell it high

The best way to flip sites is through either the website BST here on DP or by going to a site like Flippa that actually helps facilitate the buying and selling of a website. Generally payments are done through paypal.

If you want to make a lot of money consider it high risk high return investments.
You see a website you think could sell for $XX,XXX for $X,XXX with a little doing-up.

Buy the website, sell it later and profit!

if it is a multi-digit sale, you use some kind of escrow service to transfer the site (domain name and content) while paying some percentage of the sale to that escrow service

It depends on how much money the site is worth. You run a little bit of a risk with Paypal, unless you know the person you're dealing with is legit. When the money starts getting high you really need to consider using an escrow service.

I think it depends on the traffic of such website being flipped.

I have seen sites with ZERO visitors get flipped for a profit. All these sites had was a really good URL, and a cool logo. OR, is that more domain flipping than actual website flipping?

You could be paid with paypal or through escrow. I advise using escrow as a protection against chargebacks.

Website flipping can be difficult. There is typically a reason why someone is selling the website. Still though, if you are very confident in your marketing abilities and are for sure you can profit you could make money in it. I've heard of several people who have taken ecommerce sites that weren't doing well, purchased them, correctly marketed them, and then resold them. However, you better be sure you can make money it.

Most websites worth buying are sold at flippa.com.
