For business purposes, Facebook has the advantage because its format allows for the inclusion of photos, detailed information, multiple outbound links, videos, and other business to consumer applications. Facebook also facilitates the building of a large network of followers in the shortest amount of time to help market a consumer product or service.
I usually remain confused on both Facebook vs Twitter. As people who are targeting their sole targets on either Facebook or twitter will tell their own thoughts. But i found Facebook more interesting. Because it is not limited to 140 character status posts. You have hell of options to say your word. I started some campaigns on facebook, which are helping me in some way good.

There is no myth about that Facebook holds the second position in world after Google in Top sites, but everyone has his own unique concept and way to explore. Mostly says that it's a beauty of just 140 words to say everything about you. It's depends on you, how much capable you are and how beautifully you can represent yourself.
in my opinion fb is much useful in getting traffic more than twitter it depends on how you are using it (both fb and twitter ) both of them are very useful in getting traffic
I've found that if you're running a blog, go for Twitter. If you're running anything else, go for Facebook.
Facebook is the best for me i have 2000 followers on twitter so i get a few views here and their but i think the backlinks are the most important reason for my twitter account over actual click troughs.
Twitter is a lot of noise at times. As far as fan to follower ratio I would rather have 20k fans then 20k followers. That being said, you don't have to limit yourself to just one or the other, but FB has the greatest impact and ability to viral as people "like" posts on your fan/group pages.

Twitter & Facebook are quite different because you are much more limited in Twitter in what you can say. Twitter is more of a micro blogging platform and is great to drive potential targeted traffic to a blog, sales or capture page. Facebook allows you to develop more real relationships and connect with people as you can see photos, videos, chat in real time as well as all the groups, fan pages etc that you can use w/ Facebook. My suggestion is that you use both but learn to use them so that you do get the traffic you need and want. Both are very active but I'd probably say Facebook because more users use it and there are more ways to promote.
Both methods are viable and both require a lot of work to make them go viral. The trick is to not come across as a spammer.
