Paypal Scam. Please Help!

I need help from my fellow DP members. I recently did a business with one idiot guy who is now cheating on me. This is what exactly happened:

The guy purchased some digital goods (ebooks to be specific) from me and I took payment via paypal. Now, when I sent all the material to him via email, he tried to reverse the payment and filled a dispute with paypal. Since the goods are not physical, I can't show any proof to paypal of the transaction.

    Now what should I do?

The case is still open and I'm not getting any replies of the emails I sent to paypal regarding the issue.

    Reason for Dispute: Unauthorised

Paypals is giving me three alternatives to respond:

    1. I have posted the item and I can provide proof that the item was posted through an approved postal service to the address on the Transaction Details page.
    2. I have not posted the item and I will refund the payment.
    3. I have refunded the payment for this transaction.

None of them apply for my case. Please help me out on what to do

This is the dis advantage of Paypal, online goods can be scammed from sellers fairly easily.

Tell paypal what has happened and they will most likely reimburse you.

Since the reason for the dispute is 'unauthorised'... I guess you have no choice but to let go this sum. It appears your buyer was a fraud and he paid you from someone else's paypal account by hacking into it.
You can only request Paypal to verify his IP access history and take action accordingly! :(

Neither the guy, nor paypal is answering my mails. If I refund it, will the case get closed automatically? Or do I have to do anything else?

I had this problem too, and I couldn't move a finger. Paypal wasn't honest even thought i've offered them a list with conversations, mails and more. They refunded the buyer's funds and he also receive my online goods.

Nevertheless, I refunded the amount. It was a very small one and I was not in mood to fight and get my account in trouble for such a small amount. But yes, I learnt a lesson through that. Never, ever trade with strangers through your paypal account and only offer digital goods and services to the clients you trust.

Paypal always supports buyers. I lost $10 from my paypal. I asked to refund the money as I provided services to the client. But paypal never replied me.
