I'm runing a new campaign and was interested in what people think is an acceptable Quality Score for keywords? 5/10 6/10 ...

    Thanks,

Google treats 7/10 as the optimal QS. Anything less increases the chance of not appearing on the first pages of the search results. A 6 or 5 can still get you decent traffic depending on the competition. I dump anything at 4 or less because it seems to be detrimental to my overall scores.

There is a lot of talk about 10/10, but you get there for certain keywords only after a good track record of high click rates, effective ad and well-designed landing page.

To put it another way, an acceptable range is 5-7, but I suppose some people would debate that answer.

By definition, QS has a medium point. Google likely sets this at QS=6. So if your QS is six, you are at about the middle of the pack as far as your quality is concerned, measured against competitors. You want to try and get at least a seven. See How Google Calculates QS.

My QS is 7 for pretty much every campaign and keyword that I use, regardless of site. I'd say that or anything above it is pretty good.

If it helps as a reference - I usually pause anything under QS 7.

    Personally, I won't run a campaign if I'm getting less than 7

Just to clarify, I'll run keywords with a QS of 5 or 6 if I get a good ROI from them.

    Hey guys,

I noticed that a lot of my keywords are 7/10 in Google Editor although I've never ran my ads (it was put on Paused the first day).

In this scenario, is the QS accurate or should I not trust Google Editor's ratings?

7/10 should be good to maintain lower CPC... I have got some of the KW's with even 5 & have not bothered to remove them.. but have not really got penalized. anything lower than 5 is strictly no-no

The QS is accurate with the data the system has. The more it has, the better and if it makes incorrect assumptions on new keywords you add, that will quickly be fixed as you get impressions. It doesn't take much anyway, maybe 20-30. You may see wild fluctuations in QS at the beginning but it stabilizes after a certain threshold.
