Facebook is in its own search engine declaration of war on Google? Where Facebook told us about their Open Graph and speculated that she was going to conquer the web, did not pay much attention, but by little knowing more about her and you begin to see how it works Will the plan improve Zuckerberg its own search engine, declaring war on the King Google? All seem to think that Facebook, who already anticipated that SEO is possible on Facebook, and the like could replace the link as a standard to determine the relevance of a site, because the more like a page, rakeará best search results , creating a kind of semantic search engine. Its impossible that Facebook can be replaced with Google. They are two different things. Google is a search engine but Facebook is a social networking website and it only has its own search engine which can search in Facebook's database.
nothing last forever. at this point Facebook is nowhere close to Google, but we don't know the future
Facebook one took over pageviews of google some time back..Don't under estimate. Now I visit facebook more than google. Facebook : Google = 10:1 by me personally.
Facebook will never do that. They're already the King of Social Networking whilst Google is the king of Search Engine. Two different Things.
It's always important to keep this in mind. Nothing ever does last forever. Having said that, I don't think anyone is replacing Google for quite a while.
It is possible, but than Facebook will have to change a lot of their system. The 'liking' button isn't bad, but it can't be used for searching. People need pleasure in life, but when they need something they have to search. That's why there is very little to no chance Facebook will ever beat Google
The main question should be - how successful and popular wlll FB's search engine be, comparing too Google's. Right now FB's SE is Bing based, and due to the fact that Yahoo and Bing are going to join forces from 2011, I think we will see some major movement to Bing.
Facebook will be more popular if it launches it's own search engine. I am sure that it will even undertake google.
Whilst the two are starting to creep towards eachother i do not think that there will come a point where you use google for social networking or facebook as a search engine.
It's not impossible. Facebook has the visitors which is mostly what is needed. Of course, you need a good search engine but the main problem these startup search engines like Cuil, etc. face is the lack of visitors. Who cares if they are two different businesses. That's not the point. Visitors are what matters, human eyes, and Facebook has them plenty and addicted ones! Facebook could send Google to flip burgers if they wanted to on a hearbeat. They overpassed Google on traffic and have tentacles all over the web. Watching what Facebook is doing lately you can tell there is going to be a big search engine war between Facebook and Google soon. Just sit tight. Mark is not stupid. He wants f....ing world domination. Also Google has made too many enemies. When the going gets tough, they won't have many fans anymore to come bat for them. They are evil. Look at that block of Adwords ads at the top of the organic results. Now your #1 organic listing means #4, which means Adwords will get all the traffic. They are killing a lot of businesses and sites with the latest algo. or infrastructure change. Google is a monopoly that loves to abuse their power. The government needs to sic their dogs on them and teach them a lesson. And guys, when we are talking about a Facebook search engine, it doesn't mean a search engine for their site which is what people seem to think on this thread. It means a search engine for the web and separate just like Google but on Facebook.
Facebook will go down the drain. It's just a matter of time when people become sick and tired of its too many applications. I haven't heard of people going to Facebook because they want to search something like "baby toys" or "lcd tv devant"
Googles reign will end one day. It is not a matter of if, but when. As for Facebook taking over that crown, they are in totally different spaces so no, it wont be them. Bing has been making great strides but I dont think they have the grunt. It will probably be some young idealistic start up who comes out of nowhere and debunks big G from their thrown. Save this post and put it on your wall. IT WILL HAPPEN!
