I am not sure what all you think but I prefer to see awstats than Google analytics.

There are several reasons for these, awstats can be updated easily (I can see an update option in control panel), google takes time.

What do you think? which is better?

because Google analytics is javascript based, it counts browser traffic only (bots do not understand/execute javascript)
because awstats are based on server logs, it counts both browser and bots visits

Google analytics may slow down your site loading a bit since it requires analytics javascript file to be loaded from google site

I prefer AWStats and for my blogs, I also use wordpress stats. Google Analytic have a habit of slowing things down, especially when majority of your visitors do not have fast internet connection and you spend insane amount of time optimizing each and everything to ensure quick load times for visitors.

Google analytics is the best. Its reports are more informative. Its usefulness increases if you are adsense user.

awstats records all the activity on your ip.....for instance if you have a shared hosting awstats will show for all the sites.
analytics is only for the pages the code resides and domain it was created for.

Google analytics is good tool. Awstats shows bots details where as Google analytics doesn't show. if you want only visitor details than Google analytics is good tool.

I tend to use Google Analytics more, and in particular, I like the ability to integrate the traffic stats with my AdSense account so that you know what are the pages/keywords that are bringing in the clicks/revenues.

    Hello friend,

AWstats is used for network administrators and engineers while Google analytics is used for business owners, marketers and analysts business focused.Google analytics is a platform that provides us to discover why's and how's the interaction of the visitors with our website. To find out more about what happens in our website and how we can improve to increase the profitability, use google analytics.

    1. The data is inevitably different, caused by the different tracking methods used. Because AWstats tracks website stats from the web server, it picks up server calls from search engine crawlers and that in itself makes a huge difference in your stats (depending on the size and popularity of your site). In this day and age, crawl statistics are of very limited value – this should not be a reason not to go for Google Analytics as to most, 9/10 times this info is insignificant
    2. AWstats is meant for network administrators and engineers, whilst Google Analytics is made for business owners, marketers and analysts – business focused. A lot of the stats that AWstats provides are purely meant to inform about website functionality and finding out more about the technologies used by the site’s visitors. Google Analytics is a platform that allows you to discover the why’s (or usually why not’s) and how’s of the interaction of website visitors with your site.

Google Analytics is the better one I think. I've been using it for a while now and never look at Awstats anymore.
