On average, what percentage of affiliates actually produce?

    Hello everyone. I am aware that only a certain percentage of affiliates actually produce. On average, statistically speaking, what percentage of the affiliates (that sign up to an affiliate program) will actually produce anything greater than zero? Thanks in advance.

    Based on my own 2nd tier affiliates I would say that less than 5% actually do anything after signing up.

    People are looking for easy money and are not willing to work for it.

    i am sitting on 500+ affiliate accounts, those active are around 100, those of significant volume, probably only half that.

    I would say out of around 400, 150 are active and around 5 have produced significant results

    90% of affiliates in any affiliate program are inactive and you have to constantly keep on running motivational campaigns to make them active.

    Hey Mike,

    Actually I'm w/ an ad network. If you are a merchant it wouldn't be a bad idea to consider brokering your offer through one or a few networks. This way, they can push way more volume while you still only have one POC. You can set up custom terms w/ most networks so when you sign the IO you can make it that you are not responsible for paying out bad leads, and you can set geo target preferences, and specify target group, etc. If you find a network that you like it can be a very easy way to have a large reach across multiple promo methods.

    To get affiliates, it's best to get your program out there as much as possible, this doesn't mean by spamming it countless amounts of times though.

    Also, to get affiliates you need to offer competitive stuff in your program like payouts, commission amounts, options of payouts, etc.

    sorry for the late reply :) I would also advise you to push your program as much as possible in a non spammy way, ie- contact as many webmasters as you can who have sites that would be relevant for promoting your program, either directly via email/telephone or through forums where this is not frowned upon.

    From personal experience email has been working well with contacting and spreading out the existence of an affiliate program. You really need to take a look at the site you are contacting and make sure it is relevant to the product you are selling. Also try sending a short email something blunt i.e. "im interested in promoting my product on your site, hit me up.....". Those tend to work better than long detailed emails.
    If you notice a site has massive traffic and after a couple tries they still aren't replying to your emails I say go for the call. They might really be worth it.
