OK, is beneficial for your seo to have your site listed in directories like DMOZ. What if your are competing with the directory on the same page? Thanks a lot.

It's great for SEO. Reason being, MANY sites use DMOZ so getting listed on DMOZ isn't one link back, it could be up to a 100 from 100 different sites using that tool to display directories. It will not hurt to not have one, but it's like a girl with good looks, a good personality is awesome but hey, you can always fall back on the looks, ya know? :p

I remember a few years back Google claiming the do not put as much weight on DMOZ and the Yahoo Directory but it could not hurt... plus I bet it still does help, just not as much weight as before.

Google is just selecting the directories, becouse some directories aproves any URL if you pay and that was becoming some kind of "Black Market" just to gain SEO on sites that have no good content on them

Dmoz works..and any such authority directories. I believe Google would continue to give important to such relevant directories for the next many years to go.

A backlink from a high ranking site will always benefit you, however the problem is actually getting that link. I have sites that I submitted 3 or 4 years ago that still haven't been added, so in a sense you are wasting your time trying to get a DMOZ link.

Absolutely. You can see the site in my sig is listed in Dmoz as "Church Travel" and we currently rank number one for the term. DMOZ and Yahoo directory look like they still hold a lot of juice in the SERPS.

Definitely try to get your site listed in their directory. It's a trusted authority site so it can only help your rankings. I wouldn't say it game changing though, and it can take a long time for them to finally accept your site. So submit it, forget about it, and if you get listed in there just consider it a bonus.

DMOZ is great for SEO. Your website can benefit from a link on a high rank site as DMOZ.

YES, YES and YES again. DMOZ is the the ultimate back link. I have seen sites with only a back link from DMOZ and Yahoo directory rank higher than other sites who have hundreds of backlinks, but not DMOZ or Yahoo. Getting listed is the hardest thing, so if you can get listed do it ASAP.
