backlinkwatch is pretty solid. Granted it only checks 1k links but usually you can get a great idea of what your competitors are doing, or what are your most prominent back links.

If you're using Chrome, try the SEO Site Tools plug in. It'll show you domain links from Google, Bing and Yahoo. As well as a lot of other useful stuff.

The best way to backlink is putting the following query in google:

    link:Your_Site

    For instance if you put

    link:TravelForumGlobe.Com

you will get all the backlinks to my site in google

The question that you should ask yourself is what are you doing once you have obtained links? Are you using a 3rd party backlink checking tool to verify your links still exist after weeks, months? They are useless tools. The reason? Quite simple. Do 3rd party backlink checking tools contain the email addresses to the webmasters of all of your links? Of course they don't. How could they possibly know all that? The fact is that to "maintain and manage" your links, you need a system to do that. A 3rd party link checking tool will tell you "this link no longer exists, and this one still is there". So, what do you do about the ones that are broken? Do you start manually typing an email to that webmaster who broke your link? That is a complete waste of time! In a directory with hundreds or thousands of links, what a waste of time it would to manage your links by manually typing emails! But this is what people do! And it's just amazing to me!

Join LE! It will automatically post links 24/7 into a relevant categories in your very professional looking custom directory. Shortly, anyone using the "add a link" form on your site, will be required to put a link to your site on a page on their site that is no more than 3 clicks from their home page. This is being implemented right now. This insures that robot spiders including Googlebot and others will see the page that your link is on and that link will count towards your website rankings. I am giving serious webmasters who understand that a "system" for managing links is necessary upgrade his/her websites for free. Just email me a request for the promo code and I'll send it to you gratis. Thanks for trying out LE. :>
