Good traffic by google analytics but bad traffic rank on alexa, anybody experienced this? I guess alexa get traffic data entry based on weak variable, how do you think about it?
This is beyond doubt, the stupidest thing I have ever seen posted on here, and lord knows it's got some competition. Google analytics is a tracking system - it has no bias, it records what has happened. Alexa is a third party guesstimate tool. It extrapolates assumptions based on the activity of people with the Alexa toolbar - it's completely unreliable.
Bias! Magda answered it right about Alexa. Google shows you results based on the tracking it does due to the installed Google analytic codes in your web pages. So, whether your website is receiving a visit either from Google, Yahoo, bing, Aol, Altavista or any other search engine it has to track it and will show it to you. Now as far as Alexa is concerned, it is a 3rd party tool, which gathers information based on it data base. And its database collects the data only from those browsers where it is installed. So you can very well imaging that how many among the population would actually know about alexa. And what percentage from them has Alexa installed in their browser.
well alexa use their own system and analytics uses thier own so we don't able to say that which one is right or which one is wrong but ... i trust in google more alexa is only for fun
I understand that Alexa is not reliable as it only measures the hits from people who have their toolbar BUT soooo many advertisers use Alexa to see the advertising value of a website. What to do?? My website has been getting great surge of traffic daily but my alexa ranking stays at 150 000 because most of my users are from emergent countries who have never hear of Alexa.
Site with huge traffic from China and India does receive higher average Alexa ranking as the percentage of people who use Alexa toolbar is higher. Google Analytics give you a more accurate result. But if you want to compare how your site stands against your competitors, Alexa is a good source of reference.
I think google analytics is more better than alexa.. coz alexa don't show exact information for out blog or site. whereas google show all trafiic with resources and countrywise even statewise also So I regularly prefer mostly google anlytics for get perfect information details for my site.
This is what i`m scared about, Advertiser using Alexa as a major variable Although we all know that google analytic gathering traffic methods are much.. much.. better than alexa

There is no direct relation in analytics and Alexa. Analytics shows the traffic stats that actually come to the website from any source. Alexa rank is based on its own algo that picks the data from the alexa toolbars. One can easily manipulate the alexa rankings.
Yes indeed, I often read about manipulating alexa rank using tools like alexa booster that`s why I think alexa using weak variable to gather traffic data so their methods will easily manipulated
actually they are somewhat similar GA - counts when web browser loads and executes javascript Alexa - counts when web browser loads alexa counter or has the Alexa toolbar installed thus both methods cut out scripts,scrappers,bots, etc traffic since it does not involve browser to load the counter. the main difference of cause is GA - is your own private tool and Alexa data is available for everyone
Alexa is a terrible system... how they measure is not reliable and is simply a VERY rough estimate. It is really far from accurate though. In fact I pure quantcast.com. That said you cannot compare Alexa to Google Analytics... Google analytics is an absolute measurement.
