I want to add some statistics onto my site and I want to provide accurate statistics Some people say that AW Stats can be inaccurate and so can Google Analytics Which is the best to use? Or should I have the average between the 2?
Awstats uses server logs and can show that can't show google, for example external links to images and other files, links to nonexistent pages on your site, etc. Google gives powerful reports, more statistics and graphs.
Aw stats based on the the sever logs, so it will show everything like google bot, and many other bots, and GA is based on the javascript code, is can only show the browser visitors.
for my websites awstats shows more traffic than Google analytics. What could be the possible reasons??
The reasons given in the 2 posts above yours. Awstats counts all hits to the servers, and thus is recording bots that have not called up a page. GA is counting pageviews- the page has to have been called up to transmit the pixel.
AW stats shows both robots and visits Google Analytics requires user browser to load and execute javascript and thus does not show bots
I think many people complain google analytics being not accurate. I am using Statpress (wordpress plugin ) for my blog. i am pretty much satisfied with it, shows OS , browser of visitors . Even referral, which page they visited every thing, keywords that are pulling visitors in site.
so this is interesting,in what feature or performance do you think aw status is better.. For me hands down google beats all other analytic report groups.
I tried both analytics and AW stats but non of them has smart phone ability. Do you know an analytics that have Iphone or Andoid application? Thanks
