The Quaran doesn't mention worshiping the sun and the moon either, nor does it indicate that women should wear the burka. I suggest that you live your life either according to the Quaran or start learning about what your religion has become after your "prophet" has passed the torch.

Without arguing I suggest you to read the Quran and try to understand it without hypothesising about Islam. If you even can understand it then you will know its a true religion or some kind of offspring you are talking about.

No, but thanks for the offer.
If you feel like enlightening me, this is the thread for it. But I have quite a few Muslim and ex-Muslim friends who are already helping me out in that department.

Which is why I'm rather amused by you who apparently doesn't understand the difference between Muhammed's writings and the doctrines Islamic leaders have since adopted.

Isn't it great how mass manipulation works?

Are you saying that Muslims who are killing their brothers Muslims don't understand it?

Well, if they don't, then don't expect that the rest of the World will even try.

Want to know about Islam, then read the Quran.
You are living in a world of deception. You just believe what CNN and BBC tell you, do you think they know more about Islam, they are not Muslims themselves, how can they know about Islam.
They purposely highlight misleading people to present false image of Islam. Islam is a peaceful religion that prohibits killing. Killing of one innocent human is as if you have killed the whole mankind. This is what Islam stands about killing.

Read the history, who invented modern scientific techniques, modern laboratory techniques, algebra, medical science, cosmology, physics. All of these roots go back to Muslims.

Some of them go back to Muslims, but most of them predate Islam by around 2,000 years.

Most of them go back to pharaohs & ancient greek. The Astrology is mostly from ancient Egypt and Persia.

Babylonian mathematics date back as far as 1830 B.C.

If you accredit Islam with Algebra, you also have to give credit to the Babylonian "gods" for enlightening their followers with the origins of that wisdom.

But then again Muslims already do. Two of them can be seen on top of every Mosque in the world.

Islam strictly prohibits sharing Almighty Allah with anyone else. This is one of the biggest sin in Islam and there is no repentance for this sin.
Learn Islam before you talk about it. Don't express your foolishness in this thread.

Sharing what? What is forbidden, and what is the penalty?

It is very much related. All you have as "proof" that Islam is "paganism" is the symbol of the crescent used to represent it and somehow this is "connected" to Catholicism. All the numerous sources that you found clearly shows that this is not the case, and that the symbol used to represent Islam came much later during the Ottomon era. Islam does not have any holy symbols but for practical purposes, the crescent is used until today to identify Islam.

If you have a problem with that, then you should also equally have a problem with the Star of David and the Crucifix being used as symbols for their respective religions. On that point, the crucifix has always been known as a symbol for pagan religions in Europe. "One rule for you and one rule for us" agenda does not apply here, sorry!

Gee fellas, if I decided to believe in the miracles you tout and break my tradition of being an infidel, would car ads still look like this... or would we have to dress this chick in something more modest?

    Might be a dealbreaker.

I mean, seriously... talk about a waste of a great miracle. :)

    Blogmaster!

I suggest you read the Quran to understand that worshipping moon, sun and/or whatever of the creatures will lead you to Hell for eternity, and so you should aviod such false gods.

    Islam is clear about it.

Judge muslims by Islam. Don't judge Islam by muslims.

Muslims drink wine, have illegal sex outside marriage, kill, speak bad words, etc. We are sinners, but not disbelievers. We don't believe we are justified and right in our sins. No. We believe we should repent and seek God's forgiveness for such crimes we have commited.

    Now regarding symbolism:
It happens that people might have the same symbol with different meanings as it happens that they have some words (symbols) that sound alike but differ in the meaning.

We as muslims don't believe in moon to be a god; read the Quran to check our faith. We worship the Creator, not the creature and we call people to worship the Creator not to worship moon/sun or other creatures.

Now the moon is a universal watch that God made. We use it to know the number of years and calculations and to assign our journeys to God's House (pilgrimage) accordingly. We don't believe it to be a god; It is God's Gift for us.

Origionally, the purpose of the cresent at the top of the Masjeds is not only adornment, but to direct to the Qiblah (direction of prayer: Al-Kaabah) at its open part so that whenever a person want to pray and he doesn't know where the Qiblah is, he will look at the cresent' opening to know the right direction.

LOL... Polite Teen is pretending to not notice his own avatar is advertising for the same paragons of Islamic modesty and virtue that put up that ad. Can you say "awkward silence"? :-p

I'll fill the void while you guys gather your thoughts. The point I was making (aside from the obvious one that anyone sporting Menjs little blue avatar is seriously gullible) is that the ad as originally done celebrates one of my personal favorite miracles, and it beats the heck outta rocks that tell you where jews are hiding or somebody turning water into wine.

Besides, Tony Hayward can turn water into oil, and on a dollars per barrel basis it outsells wine.

FTR, I approve of that ad from a marketing perspective too (as originally done, before it had a generic set of beat up Toyata Cressida keys). Nobody's marketing that BMW sportster to Polite Teen... his age group typically cant afford one and his religion doesnt like shows of immodesty. BMWs aint modest. Theyre marketing to guys closer to my age that wanna date girls closer to his age.

That ad appeals to that demographic. It says... "Buy this Beamer and smokin' hot babes with high legs and low self esteem can be yours." Now stick that girl in a burka and it totally blows the whole image. Oh it might attract a certain demographic, but suicide bombers and beekeepers are historically not driving cobalt blue BMW ragtops. Do the math. The ad as shown sells. [And yes, I know... deep down I'm shallow.]

Anyway, you guys are missing out on all that with your "Lets play like it's the 13th century" routine. [Well, some of you are missing it, others are pretending to.]
