Yesterday the Payout for me dropped over 50%.

Same ads are showing but the payout went to &^%$

Its funny that this took place after this delay Yahoo had the day before.

Anyone else experience anything funny like this ?

Yahoo and MSN have done updates in their search result algorythms... many sites have temporarily disappeared from the rankings.

My site traffic is down at least 50% and earnings and rpc are way, way down for me too.

I would expect traffic to pick up again once the dust settles from the search engine update and mu sites return to their normal rankings

I saw YPN payouts drop about 50% for one of my sites too. This was just as of yesterday. Same ads seem to be showing. I think it goes up and down. Hopefully it will go back up soon

Yes, there's been a significant drop in RPC on Monday. Typically I see gradual declines but this time it dropped noticably.

Overall the trend is lower payouts per click as more advertisers join.

I don't see things getting better.

I'm sure you meant "as more publishers join"...and to add to that..."as more advertisers leave"

So could this slow ad growth contribute to low RPC?

Sure. When there's less competition for ad spot, RPC goes down. Furthermore, if Y! execs foresee growth in advertising, they are more likely to give YPN publishers a healthy cut of each click. If they foresee slowing growth, they are more likely to keep more click revenue for themselves.

Of course, it's just my opinion, as I don't work for big Y!

I suspect it has to do with ads rendering poorly.

Some publishers to see changes in their ads

We’ve been doing some tinkering under the bonnet recently, so some of you may notice a few changes in your ads. The changes you’re likely to see include the removal of ellipses (…) and truncated words, the inclusion of 40-character titles on certain ad units, and a change in the number of ads displayed on certain ad layouts.

These enhancements have to do with our efforts to upgrade our contextual advertising product, and in the coming weeks will take effect across the entire network. They come in response to your feedback and should, in the long run, help enhance your account performance. We’ll share more details with you as they become available.

from the YPN blog . note the bold section
