If you have plenty of money, you could improve your website page rank by buying links to your website.

Read everything Matt Cutts posts. He's by a mile your best primary source for information from Google regarding all issues surrounding search.

He's pretty much Google's ambassador to SEOland.

pagerank is calculated based on the number of backlinks you have and the PR of those pages linking to you. also depends on how many external links each page has where you are getting the links form. more outgoing links a site has, less PR juice will be transferred to each one of the external links. if you want to increase PR, then keep building backlinks and your PR will increase over time.

If you do not have much money or time and still want a huge number of backlinks, I would suggest you "Sponsor a Theme" through DP itself. Its super effective.

If so, you need to create more quality and relevant back links to your site, it will let your site have good page rank on next update.

You need lots of quality backlinks for other sites in your niche.. You can get them by asking other sites to link to yours , swapping links or buying links.. Either way you should spend 30 mins a day gaining backlinks , social bookmarking and blog commeting.

You need to have quality and quantity backlinks.

But more important, you have to be regular. Building 1 to 3 backlinks everyday for one month is far more effective than building 100 backlinks in two days.

Higher backlinks don't always mean higher PR or higher rankings.. to achieve those you need to get links from high PR websites, keep target keywords in anchor text and diversify link sources.
