AOL will do it, they did it for several sites in the past, so try contacting them! Topix got over 20,000 deeplinks auto-listed by a bot even! Rollingstone got to put in some of it's own editors for a time, and if I am not mistaken a few other companies got favoritism as well. Though outside of AOL you do run the risk of getting your site banned. There is evidence that some freelancers on sites like Scriptlance can get you in, but again, it's rife with deceitful editors setting up traps to ban you.
I would ignore Q's comments, they provide no help at all You simply suggest your site through DMOZ and there is nothing else you can do. No site is guaranteed inclusion, no one can guarantee inclusion. Once you have suggested the site just move on and promote it by other means and it may, or may not, be reviewed at some stage in the future. Please note that offering to buy inclusion will result in a permanent and immediate ban for all sites. It simply is not worth taking the risk.
Just to add that once a site is listed, that listing isn't guaranteed to be permanent. Neither is it inheritable.
What? AOL is of no help at all in getting included in the ODP? Strange, when I have brought up TOPIX in the past, I was generally reffered to AOL itself. It was after all a STAFF decision to make sure additions to the ODP, and it was a staff choice to make the Rollingstones employees staff... but who am I to argue with an editor *rolls eyes* you must be right... even though in the past, the only way to officially get in was either through submission like everyone else to going though the source (AOL). I guess this is once again one of those insta-changes that suddenly comes to lightly ONLY when an ex-editor brings it up.
Catslave, let us know how it turns out - timeline, yes/no, etc. One suggestion would be to ask a contact for the right format, and make sure your i's are dotted and t's crossed. Nobody guarantees it online or as a course of business. I am quite sure that a few winks and nods are out there. From what I have heard....
If sites in your signature.... then not in your life time Hey Mike, stop kissing Jim's ass because he is the one who is going to make sure your sites never will be listed in DMOZ fastreplies
There are quite a lot of companies out there which claim a guaranteed DMOZ approval. But I don't think such a thing exists unless there are a bunch of editors who have formed a cartel and can guarantee inclusion or some guy who has a nexus with an editor thus guaranteeing an inclusion. Even these seem unrealistic though.
If you read the fine print, MOST of those companies out there actually offer a guaranteed DMOZ submission. Most of those even offer to give a screenshot of such a submission. So they are buyer beware!
Any owner of a site offering to pay for a listing receives a life ban. Any editor who takes money for a listing would get a life ban from editing. Is that worth the risk for a site owner or editor?
Oh for heavens sake, this is the internet. I get email once a week offering millions if I help transfer money outta Nigeria, just gotta give 'em my bank account and pin number and they'll make it happen. Look long enough, there's probably somebody that'll offer to burn a wet mule at your kid's birthday party. Of course there's someone out there. Here's one... http://www.blurbpoint.co.uk/dmoz-listing.php The guy that wrote the site knows less about SEO than he does English grammatical structure and nothing about Dmoz... and has goofy claims and contradictions. If somebody pays him, doubt it'd result in a listing, but I bet he's capable of cashing a check. That said... there's the one you asked for. Doesnt prove it's an editor or that he can do it, but sure, people claim lotsa stuff.
Well, there are free lance sites... http://www.freelancer.com/projects/arc-tag/guaranteed-dmoz-inclusion.html http://www.freelancer.com/projects/SEO-Link-Building/Guaranteed-DMOZ-listing.524553.html *shrug* Many of the projects are seemingly completed. But again, most people that offer such a thing are talking about SUBMISSION only, not actually a listing.
If you carefully read every bit of what i have written, first line - companies claim a guaranteed inclusion... Its true and I dont wanna argue on this... But for your curiosity i would suggest you to google "guaranteed dmoz inclusion" and you'll find people claiming the same. I never told it happens. Second line - I don't think such a thing exists Next statement - my opinion Last sentence - even these seem unrealistic I think now you won't have any complains...
Contrary to what others have claimed, I don't think you can buy a link in the ODP. But then again, the links are of no worth, not even to TOPIX/AOL, I don't know why they bother; at the time their thousands of deep links were included, DMOZ was already in the toilet. Morale of the story, if your SEO notions are so antiquated and past their expiration dates that you think a DMOZ link is worth paying for, then you kinda deserve to be robbed. In the same way I don't feel sorry for people wasting their money on astrological maps and other voodoo.
You can't - but we don't trigger bans lightly. If you haven't done anything naughty, we're unlikely to have banned your websites. OTOH, if you've suggested your website lots of times or to many categories, suggested loads of fraternal mirrors, or attempted to bribe an editor, what else would you expect ?
Not only are you searching in vain, but why you would spend money on one of the internet's most worthless links is beyond comprehension. Heck the links you give yourself are worth more and cost nothing.
