See, that's the problem. Google is the sole determiner of whether or not you should be banned, it's their word and it's final. They won't tell you why, beyond the generic "invalid clicks" or "violation of TOS". There is no independent review, no appeal process, no way to find out what really happened.

Someone mentioned earlier in the thread that if someone did it to them they'd sue...

... who would you sue though? Google won't give you any information about the banning, or even acknowledge your emails beyond 1 or 2... exactly how would you find out if someone did this to you?

Basically, you'd just be screwed. There is no way at all to find out how much money Google didn't have to pay out due to this kind of behavior, or whether or not they really have any incentive to prevent it. None whatsoever.

Im surprised some script kiddy hasn't created a script to auto ban lots of sites just for disruption. Like a "adwords virus". It wouldn't take long to create a script like this..

mvandemar, thanks for bringing that to our attention. It's a scary and very volatile situation, especially if you rely on this income to feed your family. It just reinforces my instinct to not put all my eggs in one basket. I'll be developing more YPN sites, AzoogleAds sites, as well as Adsense sites.

Of course it would be wrong and probably illegal to do this. But how will you find out it happens. Google refuses to divulge any information when they ban you. In effect they are protecting the guilty party.

but google seems to listen and want feedback from its publishers. Some new features they have integrated into adsense were a direct result of publisher feedback.. and google seems to have an open line of communication. So why is it that they have no followed up on this oversight?

I was banned by the two methods mentioned in that article. Sucks when you invest $1500 in the development of websites with the intention of making a little from them, only to have some idiot come along and totally ruin things for you.

Would help if Google actually properly reviewed appeals and took things into consideration, too.

How do you know you were banned using these methods? Were you able to trace anything back to a single IP or set of IPs?

It is not too bad in a way, in the sense that it will force google to create a better safegaurding process or maybe algorithm..

We can't blame google either. With the number of adsense accounts, and with click frauds increasing by the day, they have no choice but to let some people go, for the better good.

We can only hope that it will get better by the day!

Well, I doubt that most of the people who do this are ready to fess up. :D

If you want though I would be more than happy to help test. Get a friend, someone who doesn't care if they ever are eligible for an AdSense account, to sign up. I'll help set up the non-tos friendly sites, say, on free servers somewhere. Then you can report the site to AdSense, we'll see what happens. Go through all the motions of telling them it wasn't their site, someone did this to them, etc etc. Now, I'm guessing that pretty soon G will in fact close this loophole, so if you do want to test you should do it fast.
