Are Submitting to Directories that Effective? I have a Finance/Stock website http://stocksonwallstreet.net/ and have been looking at ways to grow my traffic and increase SEO on the web and I was wondering where or not submitting to directories was that effective overall?

 

while submitting web directories i never got a huge amount of traffic to my website but yes i got backlinks more times, its depend if you choose the reciprocal one it will stay for long and if free one it should have a lil time period about 6 months & if will select feature one you will surely get traffic + more backlinks in a single directory

If its dofollow then you will earn backlink, its not 100% accurate to bring traffic

If you want to build links that will pretty much last forever then directory submissions are the way to go. And yes they are still affective provided that you get them from the right location's.

Yes it is an effective method to build back links and also an old and important source of free back links, just make sure to submit to quality directories.

Submitting to web directories is another form of backlinking. What you want to be doing is getting a nice selection of PR to look more natural for google rankings.

 

Your not obligated to submit only to niche directories, almost all general directories contains finance categories or sub categories, so you can submit to both niche and general directories.

In my opinion its better to be organized, you can make your own collection of good and quality directories and then submit to some of them everyday and you should note that not all directories approve submissions in the same time, some takes hours, other days and other may take longer, so in the end the amount of submissions you can do daily depends on how mush time your willing to spend every day to submit to directories.

Submission over directories is a big gamble in link building these days due to uncertainity of directories there are hardly some directories which approve within short period of time

 

Only submit to directories which have been able to keep some pagerank over time

I gave up on directories submitting sometime ago. Preffer exchange links with sites in the same niche and go for quality links.
