    Dear DP members
I registered many years ago domain name via 1and1
Yesterday I received letter form Arvato Finance (debt collectors).
They asked my to pay debt 10£ for domain name and + 15£ charge for late payment .
In the letter Arvato mentioned that "please do not contact "1&1": all contact should be made with Arvato Finance Service LTD."
I called to Arvato and they told me, if I am not paying this money, I will go to court!!
Great!! if you traveled and forget to renew domain, 1&1 can destroy your credit record!!!
So.. it's your choice registering domains via 1&1 , but Myself never-never will use this sh--t company!!!
Best Regards and good luck dear domainers!!

Very good information. In the last days I've in mind to register several domains with them. But now, after reading your information (and see your case), I will choose another Registrar.

Do a Google search for 1 and 1 complaints and you will find many examples of how bad this registrar is. Zuratv, I am sorry that you have to go through this mess.

That is not about !&1 but a common practice, which all major companies and banks do.

Your debt is sold to collector companies that try to recover their investment so if you pay, the money goes to the collector office, not to 1&1 that was already paid for selling your debt.

Let's say, if you forgot to renew a domain worth 10€, they sell the debt for 1€ -which is better than nothing - and the buyer tries to get the full amount and even interest fees.

That is why they explicitly asked you avoid contact 1&1 to deal with this, because 1&1 (or any company that has sold the debt) cares what happen next.

You can ignore the message and you will never be taken to the court because is more expensive than the debt itself.

    Which debt you talking about??)
    debt for domain name??))

I called to 1@1 and they asked me to pay 10£. I told them, I don't wont this domain anymore, i want to drop, and answer was: "you have to pay anyway !!" 1&1 is a scam!!!
