I see alot of listings offering that they can get a site to rank #1 for your keywords, for around $120 a month. Are they buying adwords, sponsored links, from google and claiming they can get you those rankings? or are we talking about real serp rankings? I thought the real way to get #1 depends on domain age and usually backlinks and some other criteria. let me know what yall think?

No one is going to get you a #1 ranking for a good competitive keyword for $120 a month. The top SEO fees start at $5K a month and up. Anyone who can rank a competitive keyword could make a lot more than $120 a month.

they are probably selling se ppc - sponsored results

depending on the keywords, yes they could do it and make money @ $120 (depending on the keywords - meaning, not on highly ranked keywords)

Absolute fault. Most of number one position in competitive keywords could not be archived by only $120 monthly as you expected. It could be 10x or even 100x depends on the keyword and competitors.

there is no such as exact result.. especially if they don't do any site analysis, which is very important.. and i don't think they can rank first in a very competitive kw.. like for example car..

Like others said, very skillful enough individual or company who could make it for top ranking will not just ask for that low prize. But if I were you as beginner, I would rather spend money so gain knowledge in SEO so I could do it myself..

No one can sure to get #1 in google, especially for the popular keyword
And yes, they can simply make those low competitive keywords with low search volume into #1, but definitely not the popular keyword

Adwords is expensive and $120/month may not be sufficient to keep it going after deducting the SEO's commission.
They might make it #1 for organic SERP for not so competitive keywords.

If you can get ranked No1 in Google for $120 then please send me a link, tell no-one else and build as many websites as you can as quickly as you can. Then (and I) can retire to the Bahamas...

$120 a month is cheap, I will pay it for rank "shoes" on #1 of Google

of cause, for $120 to rank "this is a good shoe" at #1 on Google is waste money

It is impossible, even if it had to be true. The reason being, if at $120 anyone can assure you top ranking in Google, still there will be competition for that top position. Don't you think that there are many companies who will bid for no.1 position. And in that case too getting top position will be difficult.

That is false. Buying links is another way to gain backlinks but that doesn't guarantee to help you dominate on other search engines.

I understand how get ranked #1 or even top ten and it took a lot of work to get ranked for 2 word search. I have achieved this with one of my sites so far. I know that it will be even more work to get ranked for a single word search, and specially if its a competitive keyword. So I should just keep at it and continue to build organically?

What if I was trying to get ranked for 2 word search which is not very competitive (About 488,000 results) ? Im sure I get it ranked top 10. But how could I do this under a month if even possible? I know to build back-links with anchor text containing the keywords. What else will help me along the way?

Forget about the number of search results - your competition is the top ten ranking sites for your keyword phrase. You have to look at those sites and see how strong their position is. Nothing will help you more than anchor links with the keyword phrase from related sites - even better, authority sites that already rank for the keyword. You can't put a time frame on it. Backlinks need to age. If it's an important keyword phrase, you just need to be consistent and patient.
