Im trying to decide if a site is not ranking due to the .uk.com domain.

I have a choice of keywordco.co.uk or keywords.uk.com - neither are great but ok for the project.

the .co.uk was registered in 2007, the .uk.com in 2009

    Can anyone advise?

both can work but if you will ask me, I prefer without .co in the domain name.

You can get them be archived high ranking in Google.com but a much better chance in Google.co.uk since the domain themselves are tend to be UK oriented. However, you have to put more effort and link, 200% at least to have them ranked in competitive search term in global Google.com compare to another regular domain websites.

If I were you I would go with .co.uk over .uk.com since there would be no different by using either of them. :)
