Sale - Refund, Sale - Refund.. Tired of it

Is clickbank known for refunds? I chose a popular product, in a popular niche which had high gravity and good stats from what I could tell. I have now sold 6 copies as I have experimented over the past several months and 5 of them have been returned/refunded. What a total waste for my time and effort. Are there ways to help curb this? It quite honestly seems like people are signing up, downloading the book, and then because they know they have ownership of it and have 60 days to get their money back, they request a refund AND keep the book. Not thrilled with my experience so far. Are other networks easier to work with / be successful? Which would be recommended? Thanks!

Did you buy the product yourself first? There's a lot of crap being sold on clickbank. Don't sell something that you wouldn't buy yourself.

Yeah I purchased it. It is your standard Fitness/Diet e-book. Nothing earth shattering as the basics of diet and fitness are the same, burn more than you consume and the info can be found with enough time and research, but still very surprised as the book is not "crap", its put together ok and saves people all the time and research

Not all niches/products have such high refund rates. I only experience about a 10% refund rate on the products I sale (which I still think is a bit high). Best way to curb it? Try selling different products without such a high refund rate.

One of the ways to avoid this is by searching for "product name + forum" at Google to get insight of what people are saying about the product before you decide to start selling it.

Try contacting future vendors and simply requesting conversion stats and refund rates. If they won't show you them or don't get back to you then don't work with them. It is strange that it is almost assumed that you can't get in touch with the vendors on clickbank, but I wouldn't dream of promoting anyone I didn't have access to.

I am really suprised you had such a high refund rate in the diet niche - if it was something notorious like game copy or forex I would understand, or with IM then it is well known with that crowd that you can simply ask for a refund and get it no question.. but with weight loss - essentially you are selling to people who don't shouldn't really know that all that much and I would of thought the refund rate would be near enough non existent... still it's not and I would contact the vendor about this to ask if they had problems / comments from any of these people or if they can tell you anything at all...

I have promoted CB products in the health niche that are complete crap and have never experienced refund rates above 10%. What methods are you using to promote this product? That could be the issue.

Markethealth looks interesting but I have found some complaints about them in the past while doing some research. Lots of complaints about affiliate ID's being replaced by the house account and low conversions due to this... basically taking conversions away. Anyone have any experience with Markethealth or would recommend any other networks? I saw good stuff about genbucks but it appears to have been shut down, what about moreniche?

I am also facing the same thing, I am afraid of the high refund percentage and I am tired of finding new products daily.

That is great advice. If you would not buy it. Most likely you will have high return rates.

That's the good and bad about ClickBank. As a vendor you don't have to worry about handling the refunds and customer service, but it's very easy for the customer's to get their money back.

Like mentioned about, try another product or check it out before promoting it.

I have a friend who started working with Clickbank at the same time as me...We're selling the same product...I have a 10% refund rate, he has a 75% refund rate...Seemed odd, after all, it's the same product...Then I saw his sales copy...He was overselling the product and promising things over and above the scope of its ability...He's had a slightly higher sales rate, but is being killed with refunds...If anything, I slightly undersell my product so that only those truly looking for it will come on in...

I am shocked you are experiencing a high refund rate in the diet niche as well. What is the product? Another thing to look at is your traffic source. Is it quality traffic?

Sometimes you will get refunds, but that seems high for refunds. I would consider buying the book and read it to make sure it is good. Look at the sales page to make sure it follows the ebook and does not offer more than what is in the product. Check out google to see what others are saying about the product or even check out review sites of the product you are promoting. Hope this helps.

high gravity products do not necessarily equate to high converting low refund products. maybe you'd like to give my product a try? :)

    This.

If you presell the product incorrectly, the customer will expect something different, and be disappointed when they buy. Disappointment = buyer's remorse = refund.

Yet another proof that a high gravity doesn't always mean a 'winner'. The best thing to do is to either buy the product (use your affiliate link to get the discount) or contact the vendor and ask for a review copy.

But here's a few other things to consider before switching/testing/ jumping to the next product -- You've had only 6 sales which isn't enough. Test the product in 1000/2000 hops to come up with a more accurate conversion rate. S*it happens/ maybe you were just a bit unlucky and got 5 refunds out of 6 sales.
