The United States has discovered nearly a trillion dollars in untapped mineral deposits in Afghanistan.

An internal Pentagon memo states that Afghanistan could become the "Saudi Arabia of lithium," a key raw material in the manufacture of batteries for laptops and BlackBerrys.

so, should US grab iron, copper, cobalt, gold and critical industrial metals like lithium from Afghanistan?

The difference between the facts from this article and the crazy accusations is the difference between reality and fundamentalist terror inspired hatred. It simply distorts facts.

Frankly, if I was a wild Islamic fundamentalist, this is what I'd be nevous about with regard to significant mineral deposits in Afghanistan:

China sits next door to Afghanistan. China is aggressively making an effort to swallow up natural resources around the globe; in Africa, Australia, South America, and of course in Asia. China takes no prisoners. It attacks, emprisons, and kills the small minority of Islamics in Western China. It doesn't put up with any cr@p.

China is next door to Afghanistan. If China steps up into the breach to try and take advantage of the enormous mineral deposits in Afghanistan, it will simply slaughter any fundamentalist Islamics that gets into its way, no questions asked. Any issues, it would be easy for China to send in 1 million Chinese troops next door, and wipe out any fundamentalist Islamic who dares to get in the way.

 

Another reason to stay in Afghanistan, but they need to educate people first otherwise it would be the same condition... Big companies going to extract the reserves and greedy leaders eat the commission and people will get fucked by USA and Afghanistani Leaders!

 

US has been always greedy when it came to occupying natural resources, it used 9/11 for its convenience, I seriously doubt if US was really unable to find Laden or is he just made a scapegoat to get their resources

I am not saying or supporting Laden (actually I would like to kill him and his followers, if I get a chance ), but for some forces to be helpless to find a single person after rooting in the nation for over 7years is quite dubious

if US is really loyal to the commitments, they must never ever use other nation's resources for self necessities, unless they pay for the products
