What happened with Ning?

I know I am late with this, but what happened with Ning that people are leaving or moving their groups to other sites?

Anyone know the deal?

 

They sent around an email blast to all users saying that they will be a paid-only site. Anyone who had a community had a chance to migrate things over, then lost whatever they had up there unless they upgraded with $$$.

 

Has this gone into effect yet, or is there a deadline that you know of?

I actually read that article, but I didn't see anything about when.. Edited : I just found it on the Ning website, it says beginning in July
