I'm posting this on behalf of a friend that doesn't have a DigitalPoint account. He wants enough power to run (low resource consumption) around 50 sites. Budget: $120/yr HD: 50GB Minimum Free cPanel I know it's pushing it, but it can be done. Your company needs to be established for at least one year. Don't bother PMing me if you don't meet this requirement. Thanks
Hey there, No, it can't alas. a cPanel license is $15/m which is more than $120/year as it is. Francisco
No need to post the obvious. Many providers offer free cPanel on 6mth/Yearly purchases. Please don't try running up your post count in my thread. Thanks
bk871, try visiting virpus .com They offering free cpanel with 6 months payments. They also have some discount/promotion, I remember they posted it in DP a few days ago..
ya, but i feel their prices are fair... I once used modvps's vps service.. paid 85$/month for their highest package.. I was not aware about the virpus at that time.. If I take a vps now, I will go to virpus.
Virpus is the cheapest provider out there, Well not the cheapest but unless you want tons of downtime they are. What you don't seem to understand is the cheapest cpanel cost unless you buy 2000+ at a time is 14 dollars per month. Which is 168 dollars. If a host gave you that for 120$ a year they will lose 48 dollars a year and would be out of business.
I have been in the hosting industry for years now, I know the pricing... But many providers have mass-bulk discounts with cpanel in order to provide cheap licenses. I know it is possible, it just takes a datacenter or provider with a discount on cp license to get a deal like this.
The cheapest bulk purchase internal license available is 6-7 dollars per month lets just say 6.50 = 78 per month which is 42 dollars left which is 3.5 dollars per month. The cheapest provider for that price according to lowendbox is 3.56 dollars per month and that is 256mb of ram. Hardly enough to run cpanel and have decent traffic. What you should do is contact buycpanel.com or cpanel directly and see if they can cut you a deal.
$5 can get me a box with 512MB RAM. If cPanel costs $6~, it works out to being $130/yr. It IS possible. I know it is. All that's needed is a reputable company that can do this. Paying a year in advance usually drives the companies interests, which causes them to throw in licenses for cheap
Well i which you good luck with a 5$/mo 512MB VPS, you can do the calculation yourself on how many VPS the overselling host would need to put VPS on 1 server to cover the cost, let say a normal node for VPS (8GB RAM) will cost around 150$/mo 150 divide by 5 = 30 VPS on server now, we go through 30 x 512MB RAM = 15GB +/- RAM used on a 8GB server and your host dosen't have any revenue from it, so let say they put 45 VPS per server to get some revenue we are now at 23GB of dedicated ram used on a 8GB server insane not? well cPanel are not included yet in the calculation and the host would probably want to gain more profit so let say 60 VPS (150$ profit, 30GB+/- RAM used still on a 8GB servers) Your right it can be possible on a highly overloaded node, however downtime will occurs maybe data lost, or the business will go out of business soon for the bad business plans they have. My recommendation for your VPS should be more in the 300/450$ range for a years with at least 720MB RAM since you have more than 50 website to host, Well now if you want to found something similar of what you are asking for go for burst, they are the cheaper established VPS provider around, you cannot find something cheaper. https://www.burst.net/linvps.shtml (total price will be 189$/years with cPanel) well remember that you pay for what you get! Hope that help
Like I said, I'm not new to the industry. Of course they'd be overselling, I don't have a problem with that as long as I have the resourses allocate to me when I need them. You can run 100 sites on a vps this size. Each site would only get around 5 uniques daily... I have used burst, and I liked their service... But the price doesn't work out for my friends budget.
Just to inform you the host can get the cpanel for 6-7 dollars but they may not resell it at the same price they must mark it up.... I will check back in a couple months and hope someone is willing to lose money each month on this. Good luck.
