    Read our convo:

Who does this guy think he is? Can't even wait it out. He opened a claim on PayPal and they closed it because they don't deal with web related services.

Lol, he could have gotten his money back if he lied. Probably not a good idea to keep people waiting on 60$. :/

I've no idea what this is about except that you seem to owe him $60. Let him get a lawyer if he wants. By the time he gets an appointment, the lawyers writes to you, and you receive the letter it will be close to the time you will have the money to pay him. He will have wasted more than $60 getting lawyer to write to you and you'll have paid him his $60. You have no legal or moral reasons to pay his lawyers costs as they were part of his own costs paid to recover the money he is owed. He could take court action to recover the lawyers costs, but that will cost him even more.

Just make sure you pay him when you said you would and make sure you have cash available next time someone does something for you.

Yeah, how was it that you did work for him and now you owe him $60? I'm no business expert or anything, but it seems to me that you should be CHARGING people for the work you do, not paying them to allow you to do it.

haha a lawyer over $60.00 thats pathetic. I wouldn't worry about it at all, whats the worst that can happen? He sues you for 60 bucks...big deal. The courts don't have time to deal with b-s like this over 60 bucks

ok so cut the BS and tell us the real story

What did he do for you that you have to pay $60 to him for?

    And my second question is

Why did you get someone to do work for you when you did not have the cash to pay for it??

He's lying, he doesn't have a lawyer, its $60, his grandma could make that much online in a day. Just pay him when you can and tell him to screw off.

I have no idea what this is??? Also, $60 is not alot of cash. It's obviously quite a substantial amount but it's not life or death (unless of course you are a tramp [ which you obviously isn't and neither's he cos you're both using the internet]).

Im online on YIM, he comes online and asking if i still do vB work. I say yes i do. He asks if i can upgrage his site to vB4 and upload mods and skins he wants. I say yes, but last i did work for 3 other sites they let me do all that work for nothing. They didn't pay up so i just ignored them. The guy paid me hen i began uploading vB4 files to his site. At the time i tell him im going to lose internet connection, he said it would be okay. I went over my FAP limit, idk how but i lost internet connection. Waited atleast an hour to see if it would come back but it didn't. I fell asleep waiting for my connection to come back. Woke up the next day! Tried logging into FTP it gave me an error. I login to YIM, i ask whats going on, he says i scammed him. Im like i told you already i was going to lose internet connection, but i fell asleep waiting for it to come back. He didn't believe me. I said i need to password to continue to do work. He said no pay me back my money. Im like i don't have it i spent it already. (I used it on my server of course to pay it off.) I don't have any money at all in my bank nor in my paypal. He obviously doesn't understand that i will pay him back in 2-3 weeks. Paypal dispute got closed after i called them.

(IF you think this is BS, then don't even bother replying, because its not BS.)

The odd part of your story is that he sends you money and you and you immediately spend it before losing your internet connection. Anyway, assuming your story is an accurate representation of what happened:

    1. He's not going to get an attorney - it's a bluff.
    2. When you get the money in a couple of weeks, send it to him.
    3. Don't spend any more time worrying about it.
    4. Next time, wait until you complete the project before spending the money.

I need to spend it because my account with my hosting provider was going to be suspended for an overdue invoice. Not because i was going to lose internet connection.

In the first place, your customer has the right to get pissed or get a lawyer or whatever the heck else he wants to, because you didn't complete your part of the deal the way he expects to -- though I doubt he's getting a lawyer because it would cost him 1000x more than the amount owned. How or why you spent those funds is not his problem and isn't relevant because it's your problem, not his. Both of you are at fault because he's impatient, you spent money that's not yours yet, and have really miscommunicated everything.

This is why I never pay any person anything until the job's all complete. Honestly, I would be scared to hire you.

It would have all went well if i didn't got over the Fair Access Policy limit and it recovering in 24 hours.

I told him it would happen, he says it would be okay. Then next thing he's acting like a kid and not knowing what he said.

If he's acting like a child, he probably is a child and he's not going to sue you for $60. Lawyers have other clients to deal with other then him. Well, unless he's a really rich guy and wanting some action.

So childish! Nowadays all teenagers are using vBulletin like scripts to share warez and other illegal stuff.

Back to topic $60 is not at all big amount. Just pay him as soon as possible. It is your problem that internet went down and you spent it on server. He should get his money no matter what. And lawyer for $60? Ha! What a joke!

Also, if you were to get technical, he may have potentially breached the work agreement...if you advised him that it might take a few days due to net connection and he accepted that term...and then cancelled the contract after you had already started then hes due no refund at all.

It is rather extreme for $60. I doubt that they'll get a lawyer. Did you actually set a time for the project? and how much did you already do?
