Our site Skill-guru had PR of 2 couple of months back. Today I checked the rankings and find that the PR has dropped to 0. We had been doing our work as usual , in fact we had links from some very good site. In last month we hired a SEO and he submitted links to various directories and articles and I am not sure if that is the cause of problem. How can we ask google to re consider our PR ?
There are two possibilities: 1. Some links that gave you your page rank have gone offline or changed. For example, sometimes a link to you is on a high PR page (in a blog post or article or press release), and then after a while the post / article is moved to another page that has no page rank. 2. If you have advertised for link exchanges or were selling links from your site and Google found out, sometimes Google can "hide" your real PR so people won't buy links from you. 1 is more likely than 2, but that's for you to know! Have your search rankings changed at all? If not, I wouldn't worry about PR, it's just placebo.
No my rankings have not changed but I am getting better traffic. Wanted to make sure I am not doing anything wrong or stupid hence keep in checking PR.
Do not worry, it will come back. There is something like a PR update and it is not fully done. Last time many sites were PR0, even from 5 to 0, but when the update was finished after a few days their PR restored. Even if it does not, you do not need to think about PR. If you do not sell links, then it is absolutelly nothing to you! Backlinks you need, but do not care for PR.
I agree. It should also be noted that Google ranking and indexing results don't come from one central location, there are multiple regional servers, and they don't always update simultaneously.
I found this reasonable I've been also asking my self what is the reason for those... Thanks for this one now I have an idea on it.
I think PageRank is very important and not just a number at all. Look what Google has to say about it: But that's actual PageRank. You're talking about toolbar PageRank and that's terribly inaccurate. At best it reflects where your page ranked some time in the past. If you want to understand PR more fully, I invite you to visit the link in my signature.
forget page rank my friend. It is past from 2004th since Google change algorithm. Get some nice links from forums/blogs/social networks and analyze your competitors. You will get trust rank which is now the most important thing and it works on "vote". What other websites and people say about your website.
Google Drops PageRank For Many Sites : Paid Links or New Algorithm? This morning, around 1 am, I was finishing up a document and clicked over to Search Engine Journal to see if any comments were made on some of my favorite posts. Looking at the Google Toolbar, I saw the PageRank bar read a PageRank 6. After refreshing a couple of times and rubbing the sand out of my eyes, low and behold, after 3 or 4 years at PageRank 7, we dropped. I can’t say I was too surprised. Search Engine Journal was not the only site I noticed a drop in PageRank on last night, I noticed many other blogs and forums I read experiencing a drop. And recent Google activity has pointed to a new regrouping of PageRank, which may be addressing the size and growth of the Internet since Larry PageRank was first published, or may be addressing the growth of paid linking.
